Joint source-channel subband coding of images
1997 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2002This paper proposes a new adaptive source-channel coding scheme in the context of subband coding. We first express the total mean-squared distortion suffered by the source in terms of source and channel distortions of the subbands. We then minimize this total distortion by an appropriate choice of source and channel coding rates for the subbands.

Problems of Information Transmission, 2001The paper presents a decoding algorithm for joint source-channel coding when variable-length codes are used for information transmission over a discrete memoryless channel. The asymptotic lower bound on the exponent of the decoding error probability for variable-length codes has been established.
