Joint Source-Channel Coding for Wavelet-Based Scalable Video Transmission Using an Adaptive Turbo Code

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Image and Video Processing, 2007
An efficient approach for joint source and channel coding is presented. The proposed approach exploits the joint optimization of a wavelet-based scalable video coding framework and a forward error correction method based on turbo codes.

PAC Codes for Source and Joint Source-Channel Coding

open access: yes2023 IEEE Globecom Workshops (GC Wkshps), 2023
Polarization-adjusted convolutional (PAC) codes, as a concatenated coding scheme based on polar codes, is able to approach the finite-length bound of binary-input AWGN channel at short blocklengths. In this paper, we extend PAC codes to the fields of source coding and joint source-channel coding and show that they can also approach the corresponding ...

Analysis and Optimization of a General Linking Matrix for JSCC Scheme Based on Double LDPC Codes

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
A key component of the joint source-channel coding (JSCC) scheme based on double low-density parity-check (D-LDPC) codes is the introduction of a linking matrix between the source LDPC code and channel LDPC code, by which the decoding information ...

Inter-node compression with LDPC joint source–channel coding for highly correlated sources

open access: yesAutomatika, 2022
This paper investigates a new communication system where two nodes want to disseminate highly correlated contents to a single destination and can be applied for densely deployed wireless sensors networks applications.

Joint source–channel rate allocation with unequal error protection for space image transmission

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2017
High reliable and efficient image transmission is of primary importance for space communications. In the traditional space image transmission system design, the source coding module and channel coding module are separated.

An Overview on Wavelets in Source Coding, Communications, and Networks

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Image and Video Processing, 2007
The use of wavelets in the broad areas of source coding, communications, and networks is surveyed. Specifically, the impact of wavelets and wavelet theory in image coding, video coding, image interpolation, image-adaptive lifting transforms, multiple ...

Joint Source–Channel Codes for MIMO Block-Fading Channels

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2008
We consider transmission of a continuous amplitude source over an L-block Rayleigh fading $M_t \times M_r$ MIMO channel when the channel state information is only available at the receiver. Since the channel is not ergodic, Shannon's source-channel separation theorem becomes obsolete and the optimal performance requires a joint source -channel approach.

Distributed joint source-channel arithmetic coding [PDF]

open access: yes2010 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2010
We address distributed source coding with decoder side information, when the decoder observes the source through a noisy channel. Existing approaches employ syndromeor parity-based channel codes. We propose a new approach based on distributed arithmetic coding (DAC).We introduce a DAC with forbidden symbol, which allows to tune the redundancy according

Joint Source and Channel Decoding for Variable Length Encoded Turbo Codes

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2007
Joint source and channel decoding (JSCD) has been proved to be an effective technique which can improve decoding performance by exploiting residual source redundancy.

Distributed Hypothesis Testing over a Noisy Channel: Error-Exponents Trade-Off

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
A two-terminal distributed binary hypothesis testing problem over a noisy channel is studied. The two terminals, called the observer and the decision maker, each has access to n independent and identically distributed samples, denoted by U and V ...
