Joint attention, joint probability

Proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing and Multimedia, 2009
This paper presents a novel probabilistic approach to joint attention. Joint attention is a communicative activity that allows communicators to share perceptual experience by attending on the same visual object. This communicative activity is conceptualized as a conditional probability over jointly given test and cue stimuli.

Joint Mixability

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2015
Many optimization problems in probabilistic combinatorics and mass transportation impose fixed marginal constraints. A natural and open question in this field is to determine all possible distributions of the sum of random variables with given marginal distributions; the notion of joint mixability is introduced to address this question.

The temporomandibular joint—A diginglymus joint

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1975
T i e temporomandibular joint is most commonly described in literature as a "ginglymo-arthrodial" joint. The ginglymus or hinge movement is attributed to the lower compartment and the arthrodial or gliding movement to the upper compartment. This widely prevalent view is espoused by many authors 11'' of journal articles and in most textbooks ...

Joint Replacement in the Hallux Metatarsophalangeal Joint

Foot and Ankle Clinics, 2005
Joint replacement of the hallux metatarsophalangeal joint has not enjoyed the same success as hip and knee arthroplasties. Silastic implants have achieved a high patient satisfactory rate but have caused many complications, including silicone synovitis and lymph node inflammation.

The Superior Tibiofibular Joint: The Forgotten Joint

Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy, 1982
Clinicians and anatomists have ignored the superior tibiofibular joint too long. The first portion of this paper deals with the anatomy, biomechanics, and mechanisms of injury of the superior tibiofibular joint. The second portion of the paper includes the evaluation and treatment of injuries to this joint, while the final portion includes illustrative

A safe joint with a joint torque sensor

2011 8th International Conference on Ubiquitous Robots and Ambient Intelligence (URAI), 2011
In this study, a safe joint with a joint torque sensor is presented. The safe joint, named “Spring-Clutch”, is a simple passive mechanism that consists of a spring, a cam, and a joint torque sensor. When the torque applied is less than a pre-set threshold, the Spring-Clutch acts as a rigid joint between the input and output.

Acromioclavicular Joint: The Other Joint in the Shoulder

American Journal of Roentgenology, 2014
The purpose of this article is to provide a review of acromioclavicular joint anatomy, describe common pathologies at the joint, and present normal and abnormal postoperative imaging findings after surgical treatments.Knowledge of anatomy with related pathologies, orthopedic trends, imaging findings, and complications, is important in assessing the ...

Joint looseness

Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, 1980
In order to evaluate whether joint-looseness is a function of a particular joint and/or a characteristic of the person (a trait), 124 male and female subjects varying in age from 6 to 18 were tested. Evidence was found that joint-looseness is a trait. The validity of the trait measure was enhanced by finding significant negative correlations with age ...

The Subtalar Joint: Anatomy and Joint Motion

Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy, 1995
To fully understand the research literature on the efficacy of various clinical procedures, the physical therapist must be knowledgeable in the anatomy and biomechanics of the synovial joints. This paper presents detailed information on the bony, ligamentous, muscular, and vascular anatomy of the subtalar joint.

Joints and Joint Injuries

1984
Joints occur where bones meet. The type and structure of a joint depend on the sort and degree of movement required. Joints can be generally classified into fibrous, cartilaginous and synovial.
