Mother tongue instruction as a sticky object: The making of a register of denunciation
Abstract This article examines the making of a political register to denounce mother tongue instruction (MTI) in Sweden. Nationally mandated since 1977, MTI is a state‐sponsored, curriculum‐stipulated subject for minority pupils of over 187 languages other than Swedish.

Classification and construction of unitary topological field theories in two dimensions
We prove that unitary two-dimensional topological field theories are uniquely characterized by $n$ positive real numbers $\lambda _1,\ldots \lambda _n$ which can be regarded as the eigenvalues of a hermitean handle creation operator.

AGP and EXO‐LIKE genes promote brassinosteroid‐dependent anisotropic growth
Summary The brassinosteroid pathway promotes anisotropic cell expansion; however, the effectors in this process remain unclear. Candidates include ARABINOGALACTAN PROTEIN (AGP) genes, which are prominent brassinosteroid‐responsive transcriptional targets, and EXORDIUM (EXO)‐LIKE (EXL) genes.

Novel applications of shotgun phage display [PDF]
In a shotgun phage display library, theoretically, the entire proteome of a bacterium is represented. Phages displaying specific polypeptides can be isolated by affinity selection, while the corresponding gene remains physically linked to the gene ...

Episodic Rifting of a Large Igneous Province Concentrated Along a Microcontinent Boundary
Abstract Many large igneous provinces (LIPs) comprise once contiguous magmatic products that are now fragmented across multiple tectonic plates. Emplacement of these voluminous magmatic products is commonly coeval with, or shortly followed by, fragmentation into constituent domains.

Thermally Activated Static Friction Can Explain Earthquake Interactions
Abstract Unlike meteorological hazards, tectonic earthquakes remain hardly predictable, reinforcing their deadly character. This relates to an out‐of‐equilibrium, intermittent dynamic associated with a strong time asymmetry, with few and non‐systematic foreshocks sometimes preceding large earthquakes, while aftershocks are ubiquitous and have been ...

Rock Face Temperature Variability From Long‐Term High‐Frequency Infrared Thermography
Abstract Changes in rock‐surface temperature generate thermal stresses and freeze–thaw conditions that can generate rockfalls. Capturing the full range of temperature variation, from seasonal variability to hourly extremes, is important, but data sets recording such characteristics with sufficient temporal and spatial resolution remain scarce, limiting

Unravelling the spatial and temporal variability of natural disturbances in European forests
The heterogeneity of natural disturbance patterns and high temporal variability across European Forest suggest the need of adopting context‐dependent management strategies tailored to both the dominant disturbance agent and local environmental conditions, particularly in the most vulnerable regions, such as the Iberian Peninsula—with large and frequent

Acid–Base Dysregulation Links Aging Metabolism to Frailty
Our Metabolic Buffer Model posits that chronic acid load from aging and accumulated stressors depletes total acid buffer reserve, disrupting intersystem crosstalk. This hidden homeostatic erosion drives clinical frailty and underlies homeostatic failure during stress, unifying Rockwood's deficit accumulation and Fried's phenotype models.
