The properties of amalgamation and joint embedding in the meaning of positive Jonsson theories

open access: yesKazakh Mathematical Journal
In this paper, we study special subclasses of theories on the basis of the connection between the amalgamation property and the joint embedding property, as well as between the h-amalgamation property and the joint continuation property. Our results are presented in both the classical first-order logic and positive logic, which exhibit a parallel ...

Artificial Intelligence Patents and the Sustainable Development Goals: A Comparative Analysis of the United States and China

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Artificial intelligence (AI) is a general‐purpose technology with wide‐ranging implications for sustainable development; yet, little is known about how its innovation trajectories have aligned with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

What Management Control Practices Do Electric Utilities Rely on When It Comes to Fostering the Social Pillar of Sustainability? A Comparative Analysis of the European Union and the United States

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electric utilities are expected to implement measures to improve their performance in all three dimensions of sustainable development—environmental, social, and economic. While several studies have investigated the environmental dimension, measures related to the social pillar have hardly been researched to date.

Identity Entanglement: Rethinking Marginality through the Intersectional, Liminal, and Antithetical

open access: yesSymbolic Interaction, EarlyView.
While identity research has given sustained attention to marginality, intersectionality, and the effects of power on identity, the formal interactional dynamics through which identities are constituted remain limited. I present identity entanglement as a useful framework for better understanding and articulating the relational complexities of identity.

Designing Feedback and Assessment for GenAI‐Assisted Digital Multimodal Composition in L2

open access: yesTESOL Quarterly, EarlyView.
Abstract The rapidly evolving use of GenAI leads to a crucial need for new approaches to instruction and assessment of language skills in DMC tasks. The study adopted a convergent mixed‐methods design within an 11‐week action research framework. The study was conducted with 12 Turkish tertiary‐level L2 learners based on a process‐genre pedagogy to ...

Integrating large mammalian herbivores into Dynamic Global Vegetation Models: Status and next steps

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Zoogeochemistry, the study of how animals influence elemental cycling within ecosystems, bridges the fields of zoology, ecology and biogeochemistry. Yet, most terrestrial ecosystem models, especially Dynamic Global Vegetation Models (DGVMs), remain largely plant‐centric

Contrasting properties of predation and scavenging networks governed by megaherbivores in an African savannah

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
For the first time, predation and scavenging networks are directly compared within a single ecosystem. Using an 8‐year dataset of African mammals, including megaherbivores, this study reveals distinct structural rules and body mass constraints, providing a scalable framework for studying consumer–resource dynamics and ecosystem function.

Inside the Black Box: Advancing Climate Disclosure in Australia's Energy Sector to Support a Resilient National Electricity Market

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Alongside the 2024–2025 review of the National Electricity Market, Australian energy companies faced the most significant reforms to climate disclosures in corporate history. Specifically, the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standard for Climate‐related Disclosures (AASB S2) was announced in September 2024, after which all entities falling

On closure operators of Jonsson sets

open access: yesҚарағанды университетінің хабаршысы. Математика сериясы
The work is related to the study of the model-theoretic properties of Jonsson theories, which, generally speaking, are not complete. In the article, on the Boolean of Jonsson subsets of the semantic model of some fixed Jonsson theory, the concept of the

Decoupling sustainability and performance: How government infrastructure projects in Australia fare on strategic environmental commitments

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Public Administration, EarlyView.
Abstract Australian government organisations are pivotal in helping to meet the United Nations sustainable development goals. Yet while these organisations promote sustainability in their strategic plans, they struggle to embed these same commitments into their own infrastructure and construction projects. This study examines this persistent disconnect
