The scaling of seed‐dispersal specialization in interaction networks across levels of organization

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Natural ecosystems are characterized by a specialization pattern where few species are common while many others are rare. In ecological networks involving biotic interactions, specialization operates as a continuum at individual, species, and community levels. Theory predicts that ecological and evolutionary factors can primarily explain specialization.

Some conditions under which derivations are zero on Banach *-algebras

open access: yesActa Universitatis Sapientiae: Mathematica, 2017
Let 𝒜 be a Banach *-algebra. By 𝒮𝒜 we denote the set of all self-adjoint elements of 𝒜 and by 𝒪𝒜 we denote the set of those elements in 𝒜 which can be represented as finite real-linear combinations of mutually orthogonal projections.

Higher Derivations on Lie Ideals

open access: yesTrends in Computational and Applied Mathematics, 2002
In this paper we present a brief proof of a recently proved result [5, Corollary 1.4]. The main result states that if R is a prime ring of characteristic different of 2 and U is a Lie ideal of R where U 6½ Z(R), the center of R, u2 2 U for all u 2 U, and

A systematic review evaluating the performance of eDNA methods relative to conventional methods for biodiversity monitoring

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
The rapid adoption of environmental DNA (eDNA) methods has drastically changed biodiversity monitoring efforts. It is often claimed that eDNA methods are more sensitive and efficient than conventional biodiversity monitoring methods, but it is often unclear what metrics support this claim.

Dilated cardiomyopathy evaluation with Imagenomics: combining multimodal cardiovascular imaging and genetics

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Systematic approach to dilated cardiomyopathy diagnosis. Dilated cardiomyopathy is a clinical diagnosis characterized by the presence of left ventricular dilatation and systolic disfunction unexplained by abnormal loading conditions or coronary artery disease.

Jordan derivations of unital algebras with idempotents

open access: yesLinear Algebra and its Applications, 2012
AbstractWe consider Jordan derivations of a unital algebra A having a nontrivial idempotent. It turns out that on unital algebras there exist Jordan derivations that are not derivations. For this purpose we introduce the term a singular Jordan derivation, which is a proper Jordan derivation of the form that depends on Peirce decomposition of the unital

Cross‐Coupling Reactions in Aqueous Micellar Media

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Accepted Article.
Thanks to their ability to efficiently and reliably construct carbon‐carbon and carbon‐heteroatom bonds, cross‐coupling reactions remain at the forefront of chemical research in both academic and industrial settings. However, the growing emphasis on sustainability has exposed the shortcomings of cross‐coupling chemistry in several areas, including the ...

Some conditions under which Jordan derivations are zero

open access: yesJournal of Taibah University for Science, 2017
In the current article, we obtain the following results: Let A be an algebra and P be a semi-prime ideal of A. Suppose that d:A→(A/P) is a Jordan derivation such that dim{d(a)|a∈A}≤1. If d(P)={0}, then d is zero.
