JSCC using bandwidth reducing and expanding mappings

2008 11th IEEE Singapore International Conference on Communication Systems, 2008
A joint source channel coding scheme has been proposed to optimize the mapping vector quantizer (VQ)-modulator symbols. The proposed two-step-algorithm optimizes first the mapping source codes-modulator symbols, and then optimizes VQ against the channel noise. To reach the target codebook size these steps are repeated iteratively.

Joint Component Design for the JSCC System Based on DP-LDPC Codes

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2020
The joint base matrix ${{{{B}}_{{\mathrm{J}}}}}$ of the joint source-channel coding (JSCC) system based on double protograph low-density parity-check (DP-LDPC) codes consists of four components, namely, the source code ${{{{B}}_{{\mathrm{s}}}}}$ , the

Efficient utilization of bandwidth in JSCC for wireless communication

2008 3rd International Symposium on Communications, Control and Signal Processing, 2008
An adaptive joint source channel coding (JSCC) for image transmission over an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel is studied in a particular context, that to use the bandwidth effectively, which leads to a robust communication. Such that, the source symbol and the channel symbol possibly have different dimensions, the basic idea is to map ...

Relay based video transmission using JSCC over Rayleigh fading channel

6th International Symposium on Telecommunications (IST), 2012
To rely on data transmission in low bit rate regime, more protection is required against the channel errors. In video communication over such a regime, a robust and reliable system is needed, which adapted itself matching to the variations of the channel. In this paper we propose to employ joint source and channel coding for video transmission to yield

Quasi-OSD of Binary Image of RS Codes with Applications to JSCC

2024 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT)
We propose quasi ordered statistic decoding (quasi-OSD) of binary image of Reed-Solomon (RS) codes and explore the application of RS codes to joint source-channel coding (JSCC).

Analysis and Improvement of Error-Floor Performance for JSCC Scheme Based on Double Protograph LDPC Codes

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2020
In a joint source-channel coding (JSCC) system, excessive source compression can cause an error floor. In the original JSCC scheme based on double protograph LDPC (DP-LDPC) codes, only connections exist between check nodes (CNs) of the source protograph ...

JSCC Based on OPTA for Wireless Communication over Flat Fading Channel

2010 7th IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference, 2010
A joint source channel coding scheme using bandwidth reducing has been proposed to optimize the mapping vector quantizer (VQ)-modulator symbols. The proposed two-step-algorithm optimizes first the mapping source codes-modulator symbols, and then optimizes VQ against the channel noise.
