Lyophilized Synthetic Platelets: In Vitro Characterization and in Vivo Evaluation in Mouse Thrombocytopenia Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Platelet transfusions to treat bleeding complications use donor‐derived platelets stored at room‐temperature, that have a shelf‐life of only 5–7 days due to bacterial contamination risks. Cold‐stored and freeze‐dried platelets are being investigated for extending shelf‐life, but these still have the inherent challenge of donor‐dependency.

Enxertos vasculares homólogos e heterólogos conservados em glicerina na fleboplastia da jugular em eqüinos Arterial homograft and venous heterograft conserved in glycerin in the phleboplasty of the jugular in equines

A Single‐Cell Transcriptomic Atlas of the Ovine Rumen Microbiome Characterizes Lineage‐Specific Metabolic Shifts Associated with Host Heat Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An optimized single‐cell transcriptomic framework profiles over 60 000 cells to map the ovine rumen microbiome, partitioning the ecosystem into seven cross‐species functional clusters. In heat‐resistant hosts, a lineage‐specific metabolic shift in Anaerovibrio lipolyticus toward a highly glycolytic phenotype contributes to a “nutritional sparing ...

Jugular venous thrombosis as a risk factor for Exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage in Thoroughbred racehorses

open access: yesOpen Veterinary Journal
Background: Exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage (EIPH) is one of the most commonly diagnosed disorders in racehorse. Many EIPH risk factors such as breed, age, high or low environmental temperature, distance of the race has been studied in racehorses.

“Intrapericardial Approach” for Venous Outflow Reconstruction in Living‐Donor Liver Transplantation for Budd‐Chiari Syndrome: Surgical Techniques and LongTerm Outcomes

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Unlike deceased‐donor liver transplantation, living‐donor liver transplantation (LDLT) for Budd‐Chiari Syndrome (BCS) presents distinctive challenges in hepatic venous (HV)‐outflow reconstruction because diseased HV–inferior vena cava (IVC) cannot be entirely replaced with healthy donor vessels.

Access via the femoral vein [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Central venous access via the femoral vein (FV) is safe, relatively easy and very usual in infants and children undergoing cardiac surgery for congenital heart disease. It has a low insertion-related complication rate.
