A case report and genetic characterization of a massive acinic cell carcinoma of the parotid with delayed distant metastases. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We describe the presentation, management, and clinical outcome of a massive acinic cell carcinoma of the parotid gland. The primary tumor and blood underwent exome sequencing which revealed deletions in CDKN2A as well as PPP1R13B, which induces p53.

Successful retrograde recanalization of internal jugular vein passing from omolateral external jugular vein

open access: yesVeins and Lymphatics, 2018
Severe stenosis and/or thrombosis of the internal jugular vein could be managed through a novel technique herein reported. Recanalization can be achieved passing through the omolateral external jugular vein.

Primary leiomyosarcoma of the jugular vein in a dog [PDF]

open access: yesOpen Veterinary Journal, 2017
A four-year-old, male, Labrador retriever was referred for removal of a spindle cell sarcoma involving the right jugular vein. A post-contrast CT scan showed a seven-centimeter subcutaneous mass originated from the right external jugular vein, which was ...

Microendovascular Neural Recording from Cortical and Deep Vessels with High Precision and Minimal Invasiveness

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Intravascular electroencephalography (ivEEG) using micro‐intravascular electrodes was developed. Cortical‐vein ivEEG showed a higher signal‐to‐noise ratio and finer spatial resolution of somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs) than superior sagittal sinus ivEEG, and deep‐vein ivEEG captured clear visual evoked potentials.

Inadvertent carotid-jugular conduit: An uncommon yet dreaded jugular venous catheterization complication

open access: yesIndian Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, 2019
Carotid-jugular fistula is one of the uncommon complications of internal jugular vein catheterization. It can have serious consequences such as infection, embolization, and high output cardiac failure and requires invasive repair. We describe a case of a

Cocaine self-administration in the mouse: A low-cost, chronic catheter preparation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Intravenous drug self-administration is the most valid animal model of human addiction because it allows volitional titration of the drug in the blood based on an individual’s motivational state together with the pharmacokinetic properties of the ...

Changes in hemodynamics of pulmonary artery using Flowire in a canine model of acute pulmonary thromboembolism

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study investigated changes in pulmonary artery hemodynamics using a Flowire catheter and evaluated the accuracy of Doppler echocardiography in dogs with acute pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE). Ten healthy beagles were anesthetized, and acute pulmonary hypertension (PH) was induced by injecting 300‐μm dextran microspheres.

Unprovoked internal jugular vein thrombosis: a case report and literature review

open access: yesThrombosis Journal, 2021
Background Managing thrombosis in rare sites is challenging. Existing studies and guidelines provide detailed explanations on how to overcome lower-limb thromboses and pulmonary embolisms, but few studies have examined thrombosis in rare sites.
