Parathyroid Hormone Sampling From the Anterior Jugular Vein Versus Peripheral Vein After Total Thyroidectomy

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To determine if anterior jugular vein sampling (AJVS) is non‐inferior to peripheral venous sampling (PVS) for measuring intraoperative parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels following total thyroidectomy. Methods This was a prospective non‐inferiority trial conducted at a tertiary academic medical center.

T‐cell receptor αβ+ double‐negative T cells in the kidney are predominantly extravascular and increase in abundance in response to ischemia–reperfusion injury

open access: yesImmunology &Cell Biology, Volume 101, Issue 1, Page 49-64, January 2023., 2023
T‐cell receptor+CD4−CD8− double‐negative (DN) T cells are a low abundance population of T cells relatively enriched in the kidney, but efforts to identify them have been hampered by their lack of defining surface markers. This paper describes a new flow cytometry–based approach for the accurate identification of these cells in kidneys.

Venous return curves obtained from graded series of valsalva maneuvers [PDF]

open access: yes
The effects were studied of a graded series of valsalva-like maneuvers on the venous return, which was measured transcutaneously in the jugular vein of an anesthetized dog, with the animal serving as its own control.
