Influence of Hysteresis on Magnetocaloric Performance at Cryogenic Temperatures: A Tb3Ni Case Study

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The existence of an inverse magnetocaloric effect in metamagnetic materials at cryogenic temperatures is investigated using multiple methods. Contrary to predictions from magnetization data, neither specific heat nor pulsed‐field measurements show such a cooling effect, instead indicating irreversible heating.

METHODICAL ASPECTS REGARDING TRAINING FOR JUMPS′ TESTS AT ADVANCED LEVEL AT “LPS - CSŞ SUCEAVA” CLUB [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the “Ştefan cel Mare” University: Physical Education and Sport Section - The Science and Art of Movement, 2019
The paper aims at a detailed study of the layout of the main means used by the coaches in the advanced level groups. The study was conducted during one year of training starting in September 2017, the month in which we tested the initial level of ...

Double Helical Plasmonic Antennas

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Plasmonic double helical antennas funnel circularly polarized light to the nanoscale, offering strong chiroptical interaction and directional light emission. Extending a single helix design tool, this study combines numerical modeling with experimental validation, revealing large, broadband dissymmetry factors in the visible range.

Effect of warm-up intensity on horse-rider dyad’s performance in jumping

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2018
: The aim of this study was to determine whether there is a correlation between the intensity of warm-up and scores of horse-rider dyads in jumping competitions, and which factors affect the warm-up regime.

The Kinematic and Kinetic Development of Sprinting and Countermovement Jump Performance in Boys

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2020
BackgroundThe aim of the study was to examine the kinematics and kinetics of sprint running and countermovement jump performance between the ages of 8–9, and 11–12 years old boys in order to understand the developmental plateau in performance.Methods18 ...

BSDEs with Default Jump [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We study (nonlinear) Backward Stochastic Differential Equations (BSDEs) driven by a Brownian motion and a martingale attached to a default jump with intensity process λ = (λ t). The driver of the BSDEs can be of a generalized form involving a singular optional finite variation process.

Surface Wrinkling of Plasma‐Exposed PDMS is Caused by Water Vapor Sorption: An Optical Environmental Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Wrinkling of soft materials, such as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), underpins a myriad of technologies. Plasma‐oxidation of PDMS induces spontaneous wrinkling, which is canonically attributed to thermal expansion‐contraction of bilayers. Employing experiments and modelling, it is demonstrated that sorption of water vapor is instead responsible for ...

Jumping technique and climbing behaviour of the collembolan Ceratophysella sigillata (Collembola: Hypogastruridae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2000
Ceratophysella sigillata uses protrusible vesicles on its antennae and posterior end as sticky landing devices to avoid tumbling upon landing. This technique facilitates its orientated movement during winter migration.

Testing for Jumps and Jump Intensity Path Dependence

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2015
In this paper, we fill a gap in the financial econometrics literature, by developing a “jump test” for the null hypothesis that the probability of a jump is zero. The test is based on realized third moments, and uses observations over an increasing time span.
