Silicone-foam molding of the canine ileocolonic junctional zone

The American Journal of Digestive Diseases, 1967
Molds of the isolated ileocolonic junctional area were made in 61 dogs (2 conscious, 6 anesthetized, and 53 immediately after death) by the forceful injection into the proximal colon of a mixture of expanding silicone-foam rubbers. An annular constriction (mean width 0.83 cm. S.E.M. ±.067, mean length 0.40 cm. S.E.M.

Pressure studies of the ileocolonic junctional zone of dogs

American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1965
This investigation was undertaken to define the pressure profile of the canine ileocolonic junctional segment and to determine whether a zone of increased pressure exists between the ileum and colon. In four adult dogs, the area was made accessible by bringing ileal and colonic stomas to the abdominal wall.

Presynaptic active zones at neuromuscular junctions of larval frogs

Developmental Biology, 1983
Freeze-fracturing presynaptic membranes at tadpole neuromuscular junctions display small clusters of large P-face particles, including short double linear arrays. Short pairs of double particle rows are randomly oriented at some junctions. At others, presynaptic membranes are crossed at regular intervals by long pairs of double rows indistinguishable ...

Seedling leiomyoma of the esophagus and esophagogastric junction zone

Human Pathology, 1981
The esophagus was totally excised for histopathological examination in 276 autopsy cases and 66 surgical cases (total, 342 cases). Leiomyoma of the esophagus was observed in 27 of the 342 cases. The tumors were present in 22 of the 225 male cases and in 5 of the 117 female cases. There were 38 leiomyomas among the 27 cases.

Formation of junction zones in thermoreversible methylcellulose gels

Journal of Polymer Science Part B: Polymer Physics, 2001
AbstractTo analyze the structure of junction zones formed in methylcellulose (MC) gel, the modified Eldridge–Ferry method was applied to phase diagrams for aqueous solutions of different molecular weight MCs derived from micro‐DSC, small‐angle X‐ray scattering, and visual inspection.

Discontinuity Zones in the Junction Region of Two Mine Tunnels

Journal of Applied Mechanics and Technical Physics, 2004
The boundary integral equation method is used to determine the stress state at the junction of two mine tunnels. The regions of rock breaking are obtained using the Mohr criterion.

Normal variations in presynaptic active zones of frog neuromuscular junctions

Journal of Neurocytology, 1983
Neuromuscular junctions of frog cutaneous pectoris muscles were examined by the complementary-replica freeze-fracture technique. The large number of active zones revealed in this way permitted quantitation of normal and disrupted zones in control muscles and in muscles deprived of external calcium for periods of up to eight hours.
