Treeless vegetation of the Australian Alps [PDF]
Based on 1222 floristic quadrat samples, 56 plant communities were identified in treeless vegetation in the Australian Alps of south-eastern Australia. (c. 35º 30´–38ºS, 146°–149°E). The study encompassed vegetation from above the upper limit of trees on

Abstract Introduction Temporary ponds in the Mediterranean climate have a high conservation value, but many have been severely destroyed or degraded. Pond restoration and new pond creation have been engaged widely. Evaluations of the success of such operations are generally carried out over 10–15 years and show divergent results over this timeframe. In

Unique Juncus Hybrids in Lancashire [PDF]
DETAILED anatomical investigations have confirmed the presence on the Lancashire coast of Juncus hybrids with the parentage J. balticus × J. effusus, and J. balticus × J. inflexus. These hybrids are believed to be unique: neither has been found elsewhere in the world, despite the frequent co-habitation of the parents in parts of northern Europe.

Ecosystem recovery in restored saltmarshes detected through invertebrate communities
Abstract Introduction Saltmarsh ecosystems support rich biodiversity and provide key ecosystem services. Invertebrate communities underpin essential processes such as nutrient cycling and decomposition. However, saltmarshes have been widely degraded by land use change.
