This study was designed to explore floristic variation along the Pacific coast from Cook Inlet, Alaska, to the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico. Data corresponding to 965 phytosociological relevés (including 686 vascular plants) obtained by sampling 279 coastal sites were examined.

The forests of the San Bernardino Mountains have been subject to ozone and nitrogen (N) deposition for some 60 years. Much work has been done to assess the impacts of these pollutants on trees, but little is known about how the diverse understory flora has fared. Understory vegetation has declined in diversity in response to elevated N in the eastern U.

In this study, we worked in the various naturally-appearing compounds isolated from Juncus rijidus which exhibit phyto-constituents from leaves and stems against four dermatophytes: Microsporum canis, Microsporum gypseum, Trichophyton rubrum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes. The phytochemical of the stems and leaves were exposed to GC-MS analysis.
