Unravelling the phylogeny of Lejeuneaceae (Jungermanniopsida): Evidence for four main lineages
With about 1000 species in approximately 90 genera, Lejeuneaceae are the largest family of liverworts and make up a large and important part of cryptogamic diversity in the humid tropics. Maximum parsimony, Maximum likelihood and Bayesian analyses of a dataset including four markers (rbcL, psbA, trnL-trnF region of cp DNA, nrITS region) of 134 ...

The leafy liverwort genus Lejeunea (Porellales, Jungermanniopsida) in Miocene Dominican amber [PDF]
Lejeunea is a morphologically diverse subcosmopolitan genus of predominantly epiphytic leafy liverworts. We describe three Lejeunea fossils preserved in Miocene Dominican amber, Lejeunea hamatiloba sp. nov., L. resinata sp. nov. and L. urbanioides sp. nov., thereby increasing the Lejeunea fossil record to four species.

Opportunities and challenges presented by cryptic bryophyte species. [PDF]
Cryptic bryophyte species exhibit a decoupling in the degree of morphological and molecular divergence, as a result of different processes, from recent divergence to stasis.

Pictolejeunea levis, a new species of Lejeuneaceae (Jungermanniopsida) from Cuba
Abstract Pictolejeunea levis, a new species of Lejeuneaceae found in N.E. Cuba, is described and illustrated. The species stands out within Pictolejeunea on account of its smooth leaf cells and the presence of ocelli on dorsal and ventral epidermal cells of the stem. Differences between this and the other four known species in the genus are discussed.
