Sedimentary and palaeoenvironmental evolution of the Junggar Basin, Xinjiang, Northwest China

open access: yes, 2010
This review paper summarizes the sedimentary and palaeoenvironmental evolution of the Junggar Basin in Northwest China largely based on hardly accessible Chinese language papers, and complemented by own field observations and a critical survey of key ...

The Characteristics of Heat Flow and Geothermal Field in Junggar Basin

Chinese Journal of Geophysics, 2000
AbstractBased on the temperature data of 196 wells and measurements of 90 thermal conductivity of rocks in Junggar basin, 35 terrestrial heat flow values are presented. The results show that the Junggar basin is a relatively "cold basin" at present, in which both temperature gradient and heat flow are lower.

Basement Structure and Properties of the Western Junggar Basin, China

Journal of Earth Science (Wuhan, China), 2019
A comprehensive geophysical profile stretching from Qingyijing at the southern edge of the Junggar Basin to Ubara on the northern margin of the Junggar Basin was conducted in an attempt to probe the crustal structure of the western Junggar Basin (hereafter referred to simply as ‘the Basin’), and, in particular, the structure and property of the Basin’s

Tectonic framework of the northern Junggar Basin Part II: The island arc basin system of the western Luliang Uplift and its link with the West Junggar terrane

Gondwana Research, 2015
Abstract Late Paleozoic tectonic links between Luliang Uplift and the adjacent West Junggar terrane remain poorly understood, despite their significant implications for the tectonic reconstruction of Junggar terrane and its role in the evolution of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt.

Origin and charging histories of diagenetic traps in the Junggar Basin

AAPG Bulletin, 2021
ABSTRACT Oil and gas accumulations in the sandy conglomerate diagenetic traps that developed in the fan delta of the Triassic Baikouquan Formation of the Mahu sag, Junggar Basin, differ from stratigraphic accumulations controlled by sedimentary facies.

End Late Paleozoic tectonic stress field in the southern edge of Junggar Basin

open access: yesGeoscience Frontiers, 2012
This paper presents the end Late Paleozoic tectonic stress field in the southern edge of Junggar Basin by interpreting stress-response structures (dykes, folds, faults with slickenside and conjugate joints).

Petroleum in the Junggar basin, northwestern China

Journal of Southeast Asian Earth Sciences, 1988
Abstract The Junggar basin occupies a large triangular area of some 130 000 km2 in northwestern China. Situated between the Altay Shan (Altay Range) on the northeast and the Tian Shan (Tian Range) on the southwest, and between lesser ranges around the remainder of its periphery, the Junggar basin is completely intermontane.

Basement structure and properties of the southern Junggar Basin

Journal of Geodynamics, 2018
Abstract We have investigated the detailed structures of velocity, density and magnetization intensity along a nearly east-west profile from Liugou to Dajing across the southern Junggar Basin using the seismic converted wave profiling and joint inversion of gravity and geomagnetic data. Our observations reveal such important interfaces as interface B
