Magnetic Flux Ropes at Mars and Their Impacts on Heavy Ion Escape

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 20, 28 October 2025.
Abstract Flux ropes (FRs), ubiquitous helical magnetic structures in solar system plasmas, are important to energy and particle transport. At Mars, where global intrinsic magnetic fields are absent, FRs form through magnetic reconnection (MR) and magnetospheric or ionospheric boundary wave instabilities (BWIs), but their role in ion escape remains ...

Ion Composition and Electron Pitch Angle Variations for Interchange Events in Jupiter's Inner Magnetosphere

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 20, 28 October 2025.
Abstract The outward transport of plasma and magnetic fluxes in the gas giant magnetospheres is balanced with a return flow of flux tubes emptied through magnetic reconnection. Evidence of interchange motions between inward and outward moving flux tubes have long been reported around Jupiter and Saturn.

Biochar Cathodes for Bioelectrochemical Systems: Understanding the Effect of Material Heterogeneity on Performance for Abiotic Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 12, Issue 20, October 16, 2025.
This study investigates industrial‐scale granular biochar (GB) as cathode material to produce in situ abiotic H2, which could be utilized within CO2‐reducing bioelectrochemical systems to produce value‐added products. GB from beechwood pyrolyzed at 740 °C shows lowest hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) overpotential; however, heterogeneous ...

Electrodeposition of Mo‐Rich NiMo Catalysts: Effect of Deposition Parameters and Oxygen Content on the Alkaline Hydrogen Evolution Reaction Activity

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 12, Issue 20, October 16, 2025.
This study explores Mo‐rich NiMo electrodeposition for enhancing alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), for green hydrogen production. By tuning deposition parameters, NiMo with 44–66 wt% Mo was obtained, showing enhanced HER activity and surface area.

High Shear Conversion of Elemental Bismuth in Water Under Air to 2D Bismuth Oxycarbonate

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 58, October 16, 2025.
Powdered elemental bismuth in water forms 2D bismuth oxycarbonate nanosheets under high shear in a rapidly rotating tube housed in a vortex fluidic device, without the need of surfactants or other excipients, with uptake of atmospheric carbon dioxide.

Green and Sustainable Production of Edible Pullulan/Whey Nanofibers Loaded With Black Cumin (Nigella sativa) Waste Extract

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 142, Issue 37, October 5 2025.
ABSTRACT In this study, the electrospinning method was used to create green synthesis sustainable pullulan and whey protein nanofibers loaded with black cumin waste extract. FE‐SEM imaging, FTIR, XRD, DSC, total phenolic content determination, total antioxidant activity determination, and antibacterial activity assessment were used to characterize the ...
