Just energy transition in Amazonia and the hydropower plants
The effects of climate change have been studied and publicized by experts, civil society movements and organizations, international organizations, and felt in different ways around the world. To combat climate change, an energy transition to renewable sources is necessary, in addition to other policies and measures, including combating deforestation ...

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Energy services—the missing link in a just and zero-carbon urban transition
Cities worldwide are promoting just and zero-carbon transitions, supported by emerging models of zero-carbon urban transition pathways. However, these models related to physical and social system changes are largely focused on energy carriers and ...

Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...
