Oral Exposure to Food‐Grade Nanoparticles Poses a Risk of Alzheimer's Disease‐Like Symptoms by Triggering Autophagy Defects in Neurons

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Three food‐grade nanomaterials induce dysregulated RyR‐Ca2+ signaling through epigenetic modifications. This dysregulation impairs the autophagic clearance process, ultimately leading to abnormal Aβ deposition and increase phosphorylated tau levels.

Assessing Juvenile Psychopathy: Developmental and Legal Implications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Psychopath. The word alone evokes powerful emotions and images. Attaching that label to a juvenile offender is a serious charge, and should be done so with caution, especially given that the standard assessment tools for psychopathy were originally ...

T‐2 Toxin Exploits Gut‐Derived Staphylococcus Saprophyticus to Disrupt Hepatic Macrophage Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
T‐2 toxin promotes the proliferation of intestinal S. saprophyticus and facilitates its translocation to the liver in piglets and mice. The translocated bacteria trigger autophagy in Kupffer cells and recruit monocytes to the liver through the nucleotide‐binding oligomerization domain 2 (NOD2) signaling pathway, alongside the M1 polarization of hepatic

Occurrence and Behavior of Juvenile Red Snapper, Lutjanus campechanus, on Commercial Shrimp Fishing Grounds in the Northeastern Gulf of Mexico [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Red snapper, Lutjanus campechanus, is subject to significant overfishing in U.S. Gulf of Mexico waters, and regulations are being implemented to reduce fishing mortality and restore them to a 20% spawning potential ratio by the year 2009.

Genome‐Wide Protein Interaction Analysis in Parasitic Gyrodactylus Flatworms–Fish Hosts System and Drug Target Identification

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Genomic data offer a powerful tool for studying the molecular interactions between parasites and their hosts, but they remain scarce for parasitic monogenean flatworms. This study presents the first high‐quality phased genome assembly for monogeneans (Gyrodactylus kobayashii), and uses it to predict key interacting proteins between monogenean parasite ‐

Female, juvenile, and calf sperm whale Physeter macrocephalus (Linnaeus 1758) records from Ireland

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Sperm whales spatially segregate by sex and social behavior as they mature. In the North Atlantic, male whales move to higher latitudes as far as Svalbard at 80° N, while females and young whales typically remain around lower latitudes below 40–45° N ...
