Degree theory for 4‐dimensional asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, Volume 79, Issue 5, Page 1151-1298, May 2026.
Abstract We develop a new degree theory for 4‐dimensional, asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons. Our theory implies the existence of gradient expanding solitons that are asymptotic to any given cone over S3$S^3$ with non‐negative scalar curvature. We also obtain a similar existence result for cones whose link is diffeomorphic to S3/Γ$S^3/\

The universal family of punctured Riemann surfaces is Stein

open access: yesBulletin of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 58, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract We show that the universal Teichmüller family V(g,n)$V(g,n)$ of compact Riemann surfaces of genus g⩾0$g\geqslant 0$ with n>0$n>0$ punctures is a Stein manifold. We describe its basic function‐theoretic properties and pose some challenging questions. We show, in particular, that the space of fibrewise algebraic functions on the universal family

On the K‐stability of blow‐ups of projective bundles

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 113, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract We investigate the K‐stability of certain blow‐ups of P1$\mathbb {P}^1$‐bundles over a Fano variety V$V$, where the P1$\mathbb {P}^1$‐bundle is the projective compactification of a line bundle L$L$ proportional to −KV$-K_V$ and the center of the blow‐up is the image along a positive section of a divisor B$B$ also proportional to L$L$. When V$V$

First Robin Eigenvalue of the Laplacian on Kähler and Quaternionic Kähler Manifolds

open access: yesMathematics
We investigate the first Robin eigenvalue of the Laplacian on Kähler and quaternionic Kähler manifolds. First, we establish Cheng-type eigenvalue comparison theorems for Kähler manifolds under lower bounds on holomorphic sectional curvature and ...

The Cost of Ownership and Minimum Sustainable Price of POLO BJ Cells Produced in Germany

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
The p‐type back junction (BJ) solar cell featuring n+‐type passivating poly‐Si on oxide (POLO) emerges as a promising alternative to the established PERC concept. This study compares the cost of ownership (CoO), minimum sustainable price (MSP), and the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) of POLO BJ and PERC solar cells, with a focus on the potential ...

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Swampland: The Cosmologist's Handbook to the String‐Theoretical Swampland Programme

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 74, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract String theory has strong implications for cosmology, implying the absence of a cosmological constant, ruling out single‐field slow‐roll inflation, and that black holes decay. The origins of these statements are elucidated within the string‐theoretical swampland programme.

Toric extremal Kähler-Ricci solitons are Kähler-Einstein

open access: yesComplex Manifolds, 2017
In this short note, we prove that a Calabi extremal Kähler-Ricci soliton on a compact toric Kähler manifold is Einstein. This settles for the class of toric manifolds a general problem stated by the authors that they solved only under some curvature ...

Matter field Kähler metric in heterotic string theory from localisation

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
We propose an analytic method to calculate the matter field Kähler metric in heterotic compactifications on smooth Calabi-Yau three-folds with Abelian internal gauge fields.

A Miyaoka–Yau inequality for hyperplane arrangements in CPn$\mathbb {CP}^n$

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 113, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Let H$\mathcal {H}$ be a hyperplane arrangement in CPn$\mathbb {CP}^n$. We define a quadratic form Q$Q$ on RH$\mathbb {R}^{\mathcal {H}}$ that is entirely determined by the intersection poset of H$\mathcal {H}$. Using the Bogomolov–Gieseker inequality for parabolic bundles, we show that if a∈RH$\mathbf {a}\in \mathbb {R}^{\mathcal {H}}$ is ...

Quasi-Statistical Manifolds with Almost Hermitian and Almost Anti-Hermitian Structures

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica
Let (M, g, ∇) be a 2n-dimensional quasi-statistical manifold that admits a pseudo-Riemannian metric g (or h) and a linear connection ∇ with torsion. This paper aims to study an almost Hermitian structure (g, J ) and an almost anti-Hermitian structure (h,
