Measured cross-sections for Na*+K electronic transfer

Il Nuovo Cimento B, 1975
Sensitized fluorescence in potassium induced by collisions with sodium atoms excited by a dye-laser radiation is investigated. In the experiment alkali dimer contribution to the process is negligible and self-trapping of the resonant radiation is avoided.

Positron–K-Electron Annihilation in 180mTa Atoms

Bulletin of the Russian Academy of Sciences: Physics, 2018
The excitation cross sections of 180mTa are measured for the first time via positron–K-electron annihilation with a limit energy of 0.653 MeV. Effective cross sections σeff (180gTa) are found to be (3.9 ± 0.8) × 10−29 cm2. The differential cross section is estimated from the effective cross section and agrees qualitatively with theoretical calculations

K electron shell ionization and nuclear reactions

Il Nuovo Cimento B Series 10, 1965
TheK-shell ionization probability associated withα-decay and nuclear reactions involving charged particles is calculated. The monopole and dipole term of the Coulomb interaction are considered as well as the nuclear recoil. Relativistic and screening effects are neglected. The theoretical predictions are in good agreement with experiment forα-decay and

K-electron capture probabilities in the decays of Gd151 and Dy159

Zeitschrift für Physik A Hadrons and nuclei, 1973
TheK-electron capture probability,PK, in the allowed and non-unique first-forbidden transitions is measured by observing coincidences betweenK x rays and γ rays. The following results are obtained. In Gd151 decayPK to the 349.8 keV level is 0.713 ± 0.015 andPK to the 307.4 keV level is 0.813 ± 0.020. It is also deduced that the decay energyQEC is 491−9+

Correlation effects in L/K electron capture ratios

Physics Letters A, 1974
Abstract Correlation effects between the orbital electrons are suggested to be the origin of the discrepancy between the experimental and theoretical L/K electron capture ratios.

Some notes on K-electron energies in molecular systems

Chemical Physics Letters, 1971
Abstract Several SCF LCAO MO wavefunctions employing different STO basis sets have been used to calculate the K-shell electron binding energies, both in the 'sudden' and 'adiabatic' approximations, in molecules with first-row atoms. The ϵ 1s changes induced by the various bases are computed and found comparable with experimentally measured 'chemical'

K-electron capture probability in167Tm

Journal of Physics G: Nuclear and Particle Physics, 1990
The K-electron capture probability in the decay of 167Tm for the first-forbidden transition 1/2+ to 3/2- was measured using the sum-coincidence method and employing a hyper-pure Ge system. The PK value is found to be 0.835+or-0.029, in agreement with the theoretical value of 0.829.

Relativistic K Electron Wave Functions by the Variational Principle

Proceedings of the Physical Society, 1960
The variational principle is applied to obtain the Dirac wave functions of the K electrons of heavy atoms, using the method of variable parameters. In formulation, three parameters are used. The Coulomb and spin-spin interactions of the two K electrons are taken into consideration as well as the effect of the rest of the atom.

Continuous gas discharge plasma with 200 K electron temperature

Physics of Plasmas, 2010
A very cold and collisional hot-filament discharge plasma is created in a vacuum chamber with an inner wall cooled by liquid nitrogen. The inner chamber (16.5 cm diameter×30 cm) has two negatively biased tungsten filaments for plasma generation and a Langmuir probe on axis for diagnostic measurements. With the wall at 140 K, 0.5–16 mA filament emission,

Nuclear excitation in positron-K-electron annihilation

Physical Review C, 1987
We have calculated the cross section for nuclear excitation during positron-K-electron annihilation. The calculations allow for the effect of the nuclear Coulomb field and for relativistic effects. The results are compared to earlier predictions which were derived using the Born approximation, and to renormalized Born approximation predictions.
