Calculations of turbulent separated flows [PDF]

open access: yes
A numerical study of incompressible turbulent separated flows is carried out by using two-equation turbulence models of the K-epsilon type. On the basis of realizability analysis, a new formulation of the eddy-viscosity is proposed which ensures the ...

Economic and Technical Assessment of Wind Potential Using SARIMAX Time Series Models: Wind Speed Forecasting and Analysis

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
The wind energy potential of Khaf was evaluated for 2025 using 15 years of wind data combined with advanced forecasting models, SARIMAX and Prophet. This integrated framework enables precise estimation of wind power density and optimal turbine selection, paving the way for the efficient and sustainable development of wind farms in the region.

Numerical study of a separating and reattaching flow by using Reynolds-stress tubulence closure [PDF]

open access: yes
The numerical study of the Reynolds-stress turbulence closure for separating, reattaching, recirculating and redeveloping flow is summarized. The calculations were made for two different closure models of pressure - strain correlation.

Inertial-range behaviour of a passive scalar field in a random shear flow

open access: yes, 2011
Infrared asymptotic behaviour of a scalar field, passively advected by a random shear flow, is studied by means of the field theoretic renormalization group and the operator product expansion.

The Gas‐Liquid Separation Characteristics Inside a Drainage Self‐Priming Pump Under Different Discharge Valve Openings

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
To investigate the influence of discharge valve opening on the self‐priming characteristics of a self‐priming pump, numerical calculations are conducted for four different discharge valve openings based on a circulation piping system. The hydraulic performance and the internal flow characteristics during self‐priming process are obtained.

Waves of Uncertainty: Crude Oil Under Geopolitical, Economic, and ESG Turbulence

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Dynamic copula and wavelet coherence reveal that geopolitical, economic, and sustainability uncertainties significantly shape crude oil price co‐movements. Long‐term coherence, especially post‐2015, highlights the growing role of ESG risks alongside geopolitical shocks and economic crises in global energy risk transmission.

A computational study of multiple jet and wall interaction [PDF]

open access: yes
In the fuel preburner of the Space Shuttle Main Engine, face plate, injector, and baffle erosion have been observed. The observed patterns of erosion suggest that flame attachment to the walls is a contributing factor.

Optimal Nanoparticle Size in SiO₂/Al₂O₃‐Water Nanofluids for Enhancing Intercooler Thermal Enhancement: A Conjugate Heat Transfer Study

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
The simulation shows that the comprehensive heat transfer effect of using nanofluids as cooling liquid is greater than 1.30 nm SiO2/water and 40 nmAl2O3/water nanofluids have the best heat transfer enhancement effect, while all nanofluids of 30 nm Al2O3/water have the best heat transfer enhancement effect.
