Frictional Properties of Feldspar‐Chlorite Gouges and Implications for Fault Reactivation in Hydrothermal Systems

open access: yesEarth and Space Science
As a particularly common mineral in granites, the presence of feldspar and feldspar‐chlorite gouges at hydrothermal conditions has important implications in fault strength and reactivation.

Substitution of Fe3+ into anorthite in oxidized, Al‐deficient ferrobasaltic systems with implications for the petrogenesis of angrite meteorites

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Angrite meteorites are critically silica‐undersaturated igneous rocks with high Ca/Al and Fe/Mg, along with depletion in volatile lithophile elements Na and K such that they crystallize anorthite along with olivine and calcic pyroxene. The anorthite in angrites contains substantial Fe, and in NWA 1670 and NWA 1296, it is present at major ...

K/T boundary stratigraphy: Evidence for multiple impacts and a possible comet stream [PDF]

open access: yes
A critical set of observations bearing on the K/T boundary events were obtained from several dozen sites in western North America. Thin strata at and adjacent to the K/T boundary are locally preserved in association with coal beds at these sites.

Al‐Khadhaf: The first camera‐observed (H5–6) meteorite fall from Oman

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract A fireball camera system installed in 2022 by the Oman Meteorite Monitoring Project (OMMP) as part of the Global Fireball Observatory (GFO) recorded a 3.2 s fireball on March 8, 2022 at 8:15 p.m. UTC. A meteoroid of 4 ± 2 kg entered the atmosphere at 14.0 km/s.

Ion microprobe zircon geochronology of the Uivak Gneisses: Implications for the evolution of early terrestrial crust in the North Atlantic Craton [PDF]

open access: yes
Ion microprobe U-Pb results for zircons from three Uivak I gneisses and one specimen of Uivak II gneiss, from the Saglek-Hebron area of Northern Labrador are reported.

Bio‐mediated cementation of supratidal beach sediments associated with groundwater springs

open access: yesSedimentology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The formation of beachrock, sensu stricto, via carbonate precipitation in the intertidal zone is widespread throughout the tropics and subtropics. While cementation of supratidal beach sediments has also been noted in several locations, it has received much less attention.

K-feldspar/kuvars ayrımında optimum flotasyon koşullarının belirlenmesi

open access: yes, 2021
Potasyumlu feldispat/kuvars ayrımında optimum flotasyon koşulların araştırıldığı bu yüksek lisans tezi kapsamında, Kalemaden A.Ş. `ye ait Manisa, Demirci yöresindeki üretim sahalarından alınan iki farklı feldispat cevherine ait fiziksel, kimyasal, mineralojik özellikleri detaylı olarak tanımlanarak; feldispat cevherinin hidroflorik asit kullanılmayan ...

Microbially generated ferruginous crusts: A potential biosignature of continental input in coastal settings

open access: yesSedimentology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Thin ferruginous sandy crusts are common on top of sandstone beds in the Early Permian post‐glacial deposits of the Paraná Basin in southern Brazil. These crusts usually preserve wrinkle structures, suggesting that they might be a product of microbial mediation.
