Ca diffusion in K-Feldspar

Lithos, 2019
Abstract Diffusion of Ca has been characterized in natural K-feldspar under dry, 1 atm conditions using a 44Ca tracer. Polished sections of feldspar were surrounded by source powders in Pt capsules and annealed in air, or with solid buffers to buffer at NNO or IW.

Thermoluminescence signal in K-feldspar grains: Revisited

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2015
Recent work has shown that infrared stimulated luminescence (IRSL) signals in sedimentary coarse-grain K-feldspars are derived mainly from high temperature thermoluminescence (TL) peaks around 400°C, and the fading components of the IRSL signal can be preferentially removed by prior IR stimulation at relatively low temperature.

A study of strontium diffusion in K-feldspar, Na-K feldspar and anorthite using Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy

Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 1992
Abstract Sr chemical diffusion has been measured in orthoclase, anorthoclase and anorthite under dry, 1-atm conditions. A strontium oxide-aluminosilicate powder mixture was used as the source material, with Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy (RBS) used to measure diffusion profiles.

Thermoluminescence trapping parameters of irradiated K-feldspar

2022
Isothermal decay of the TL glow curve of the irradiated K-feldspars has been investigated at an ambient temperature. A suggested procedure enables the isolation of peaks at the low-temperature region of the TL glow curve. An analysis of the values of the symmetry factor suggests that bimolecular mechanisms are responsible for the kinetics of decay ...

Cosmogenic chlorine-36 production in K-feldspar

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1997
The high production rate of in-situ cosmogenic 36Cl from potassium allows K-rich minerals to be dated with high sensitivity and precision. K-rich minerals, such as K-feldspar and biotite are commonly associated with quartz in which 26Al and 10Be are produced, allowing three cosmogenic nuclides, with half-lives ranging from 0.3 Ma to 1.5 Ma, to be ...

Experimental deformation of K-feldspar single crystals

Bulletin de Minéralogie, 1979
Sanidine single crystals have been deformed in order to study the possible slip systems in this mineral. Runs have been performed at 700, 900 and 1,1000° C, with a confining pressure of 16 kbâr at a strain rate of 2 x 10-6 s-1 for 11 different crystallographic orientations.

Thermodynamic mixing properties of Rb-K feldspars

American Mineralogist, 2008
Hydrofluoric acid solution calorimetric measurements conducted at 50 °C on a series of Al-Si ordered Rb-K feldspars reveal that the enthalpies Rb-K mixing ( H ex ) for this series are positive, with maximum values skewed toward Rb-rich compositions. However, the magnitudes of H ex are greatly reduced relative to those for Na-K feldspars, as are the

Assessment of bleaching of K-feldspar grains

Radiation Measurements, 2001
Based on the difference in the bleaching rate between IRSL and TL signals, a new method of assessing the bleaching of sedimentary feldspar is proposed. All measurements for De and the bleaching factor (normalized ratio of IRSL to TL) are carried out on the same grain.

Sorption characteristic of uranium(VI) ion onto K-feldspar

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2017
The effect of pH, contact time, temperature, ionic strength and initial U(VI) concentration on U(VI) sorption onto K-feldspar was investigated using batch techniques. The sorption kinetics was evaluated and the activation energy was obtained based on the rate constants at different temperature.
