Transmission of Light through K-feldspar

open access: yes, 2022
Abstract In this paper, the experimental details and results are presented concerning the light transmission through K3 samples and its dependence on the polarization of the light. Very little absorption was found with wavelengths of light between 500 and 820 nm, but below 500 nm the absorption increased significantly.

Effect of Temperature and Atmosphere on Agglomeration of Bed Particles in a Bubbling Fluidised Bed Burning Na‐Enriched Coal

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Agglomeration of bed materials during circulating fluidised bed (CFB) combustion or gasification of high‐alkali fuel is a practical challenge in industrial practice. This work investigates experimentally the effect of temperatures (700°C–900°C) and atmosphere (air equivalence ratios 1.61–0.53) on agglomeration in a lab‐scale bubbling fluidised

Atmospheric K-feldspar as a potential climate modulating agent through geologic time [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Clouds and aerosols have a large, yet highly uncertain, effect on changes in Earth’s climate. A factor of particular note is the role played by ice-nucleating particles, which remains poorly understood.

Mechanical property variation mechanisms of granite subjected to real‐time high temperatures and subsequent cooling treatment

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study investigates the coupled thermo‐mechanical behavior of granite during heating and cooling through a combination of laboratory tests and finite element analysis. The thermal conductivity, mineral composition, mass loss rate, micro‐crack observation, and thermal fracture characteristics of granite under various temperature conditions are ...

Microscopic mechanism of sandstone hydration in Yungang Grottoes, China

open access: yesOpen Geosciences, 2020
The macroscopic engineering properties of sandstone are dominated primarily by mineral features in a microscopic scale. This study will investigate the microscopic physical and mechanical properties of the main minerals (quartz, K-feldspar, Na-feldspar ...

Cap rock efficiency of geothermal systems in fold-and-thrust belts: Evidence from paleo-thermal and structural analyses in Rosario de La Frontera geothermal area (NW Argentina) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Cap rock characterization of geothermal systems is often neglected despite fracturing may reduce its efficiency and favours fluid migration. We investigated the siliciclastic cap rock of Rosario de La Frontera geothermal system (NW Argentina) in order to

Effect of confining pressure on fracture characteristics and mineralogical behavior of tight sandstone specimens after hydraulic fracturing

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Hydraulic fracturing in tight sandstone and fracture propagation characteristics using backscattered electron‐scanning electron microscope (BSE‐SEM) images. Abstract This study focuses on hydraulic fracturing experiments conducted under triaxial conditions on tight sandstone specimens from Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh, India.
