Object classification using X-ray images

open access: yesJournal of Computer Sciences Institute, 2020
The main aim of the presented research was to assess the possibility of utilizing geometric features in object classification. Studies were conducted using X-ray images of kernels belonging to three different wheat varieties: Kama, Canadian and Rosa.

Fluid Biomarkers of Disease Burden and Cognitive Dysfunction in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Identifying objective biomarkers for progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is crucial to improving diagnosis and establishing clinical trial and treatment endpoints. This study evaluated fluid biomarkers in PSP versus controls and their associations with regional 18F‐PI‐2620 tau‐PET, clinical, and cognitive outcomes.

On multiplicative automatic sequences

open access: yes, 2019
We show that any automatic multiplicative sequence either coincides with a Dirichlet character or is identically zero when restricted to integers not divisible by small primes. This answers a question of Bell, Bruin and Coons.

Relationship Between Neurologic Symptoms and Signs and FMR1 Genotype in Premutation Carriers

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Fragile X‐associated Tremor/Ataxia Syndrome (FXTAS) is the most severe late‐onset condition caused by a premutation in the FMR1 gene, characterized by expanded CGG triplet repeats of 55–200. Clinical presentations of FXTAS, including gait ataxia, kinetic tremor, cognitive decline, and rare Parkinsonism, are linked to ...

Diophantine approximation of Mahler numbers

open access: yes, 2015
Suppose that $F(x)\in\mathbb{Z}[[x]]$ is a Mahler function and that $1/b$ is in the radius of convergence of $F(x)$. In this paper, we consider the approximation of $F(1/b)$ by algebraic numbers.

Smoothness of Function in Terms of Kernel and Its Relation With K-Derivative

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics
We define a kernel function and K-derivative of a function w.r.t. this Kernel is introduced and studied, this new derivative is obtained by replacing e−st in Laplace derivative with Ks,t, the newly defined kernel.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

The Discrepancy Principle for Choosing Bandwidths in Kernel Density Estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We investigate the discrepancy principle for choosing smoothing parameters for kernel density estimation. The method is based on the distance between the empirical and estimated distribution functions.

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

Kernel based locality – Sensitive discriminative sparse representation for face recognition

open access: yesScientific African, 2020
Kernel-based Sparse Representation (SR) has impacted positively on the classification performance in image recognition and has eradicated the problems attributed to the nonlinear distribution of face images and its implementation with Dictionary Learning
