Anticorrosive Performance of Smart Epoxy Coatings With Poly(urea‐formaldehyde) Microcapsules Filled With 5‐Ethylidene‐2‐norbornene

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
PUF/ENB microcapsules were synthesized based on a sequential factorial design and incorporated into an epoxy matrix. Their anticorrosive action, associated with the self‐healing mechanism, demonstrated that the addition of microcapsules to the coating improved anticorrosive performance compared to pure epoxy coatings, particularly when the encapsulate ...

The surgical efficiency of Kirschner wire sleeve-assisted removal of elastic intramedullary nails: a comparative study

open access: yesFrontiers in Pediatrics
BackgroundElastic intramedullary nails (ESIN) are widely used for pediatric fractures; however, their removal poses technical challenges. Currently, there are limited reports on improvements in ESIN removal techniques.

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

Numerical modelling of heat transfer in a tube furnace for steel wire annealing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In order to relieve stresses from cold drawing and to regain ductility, steel wires are annealed in furnaces under prolonged exposure to an appropriate temperature termed as ‘soaking’.

Buried or exposed Kirschner wire for the management of hand and forearm fractures: A systematic review, meta-analysis, and meta-regression.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
BackgroundThe recommendation on whether to bury or expose the Kirschner wire (K-wire) for the management of fractures has still been controversial with inconsistent results in the published studies due to the potential issue associated with exposed K ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

Mechanics of wire rope [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This presentation on the mechanics of wire rope will be divided into two parts: a theory for the static and dynamic response of wire rope, and practical examples in the form of consulting problems with which I have been associated.is peer reviewedMade ...

Migration of a Broken Kirschner Wire after Surgical Treatment of Acromioclavicular Joint Dislocation

open access: yesCase Reports in Surgery, 2016
Kirschner wire (K-wire) is one of the commonly used implants in orthopaedics practice. Migration of the wire is one of the most frequently reported complications after fixation by the K-wire.
