Intrathoracic migration of a Kirschner wire

open access: yes, 1999
Intrathoracic migration of a Kirschner wire is a serious complication and immediate removal of the wire is mandatory. We describe a case of Kirschner wire migration from the left shoulder to the thorax.

Reaction–Diffusion Finite Element Model of Lateral Line Primordium Migration to Explore Cell Leadership [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Collective cell migration plays a fundamental role in many biological phenomena such as immune response, embryogenesis and tumorigenesis. In the present work, we propose a reaction–diffusion finite element model of the lateral line primordium migration ...

Noise‐Tunable Memristor Enabling Programmable Probabilistic Neurons for Frequency‐Selective Time‐Series Signal Encoding

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Memristors offer tunable resistance and intrinsic instability, making them promising tunable noise sources. We propose a spiking‐rate‐programmable probabilistic neuron using a Ru/TaOx/Pt memristor, where resistance‐dependent noise enables frequency‐selective encoding.

Incidence and Risk Factors for Complications of Exposed Kirschner Wires Following Elective Forefoot Surgery

open access: yesFoot & Ankle Orthopaedics, 2018
Category: Midfoot/Forefoot Introduction/Purpose: Kirschner wires (K-wires) are commonly utilized for temporary metatarsal and phalangeal fixation following forefoot corrective osteotomies. K-wires can remain in place for up to 6 weeks postoperatively and

Kirschner wire migration into intramedullary canal of ulna during open reduction and internal fixation

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Case Reports, 2013
At Bunbury Regional Hospital, we recently saw a case where Kirschner wires (K-wires), used during open reduction and internal fixation of olecranon, were propelled down the intramedullary canal intraoperatively. The K-wire was only secured unicortically.
