Capsular types of Klebsiella pneumoniae revisited by wzc sequencing. [PDF]
Capsule is an important virulence factor in bacteria. A total of 78 capsular types have been identified in Klebsiella pneumoniae. However, there are limitations in current typing methods. We report here the development of a new genotyping method based on

Research on the coefficient of friction of becorit K22 and K25SB linings [PDF]
Abstract The article presents the method and results of experimental tests of the coefficient of friction between a steel rope and friction lining. The BECORIT K22 and BECORIT K25SB floor coverings were tested. The tests were carried out in accordance with the recommendations of the new German standard: DIN 21258 – Lubricants and ...

Purification and characterization of a novel nitrilase of Rhodococcus rhodochrous K22 that acts on aliphatic nitriles [PDF]
A novel nitrilase that preferentially catalyzes the hydrolysis of aliphatic nitriles to the corresponding carboxylic acids and ammonia was found in the cells of a facultative crotononitrile-utilizing actinomycete isolated from soil. The strain was taxonomically studied and identified as Rhodococcus rhodochrous.

On a generalization of Jacobi's elliptic functions and the Double Sine-Gordon kink chain [PDF]
A generalization of Jacobi's elliptic functions is introduced as inversions of hyperelliptic integrals. We discuss the special properties of these functions, present addition theorems and give a list of indefinite integrals.

ABSTRACT Global food demand is predicted to rise anywhere from 59% to 98% by 2050 because of increasing population. However, the continued depletion of natural resources and increasing biotic and abiotic stresses will continue to pose significant threats to global food security in coming years.

Quasi-doubly periodic solutions to a generalized Lame equation
We consider the algebraic form of a generalized Lame equation with five free parameters. By introducing a generalization of Jacobi's elliptic functions we transform this equation to a 1-dim time-independent Schroedinger equation with (quasi-doubly ...

Tunable Patterned Blue Phase Liquid Crystals Based on Lithographic Process Technology
A patterned blue phase liquid crystal device with electrically driven, localized bistability is demonstrated using a cost‐efficient photolithographic dual‐alignment process. The device switches between a high‐contrast patterned state and a uniform reflective state.

Calcium dissociation with carbonate ions from Pf-SCP, sarcoplasmic calcium-binding protein in Pinctada fucata, contributes to calcium mineralization for shell formation. [PDF]
Abstract Pf‐SCP is an EF‐hand protein identified in Pinctada fucata that is responsible for calcium transport and concentration in the mantle for shell formation. Previous studies have reported the calcium‐binding properties of the EF‐hand domains and the localization of Pf‐SCP.
