Strong laws for the k-th order statistic when k≦c log2 n

Probability Theory and Related Fields, 1986
Let \(U_ 1,U_ 2,..\). be an i.i.d. sequence of random variables uniformly distributed over (0,1) and let for each n, \(U_{1,n}

Law Enforcement K-9 Dog Bites: Injuries, Complications, and Trends

Annals of Emergency Medicine, 1997
To quantify the number of individuals bitten, the number of bites per patient, and the types of injuries and complications caused by law enforcement K-9 dog bites treated in the Jail Ward Emergency Department of the Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center. These variables were compared before and after a change in K-9 police

Kant's Universal Law Formula Revisited

Metaphilosophy, 2015
AbstractKantians are increasingly deserting the universal law formula in favor of the humanity formula. The former, they argue, is open to various decisive objections; the two are not equivalent; and it is only by appealing to the humanity formula that Kant can reliably generate substantive implications from his theory of an acceptable sort.

Strong Laws for the k-th Order Statistic when k ≤ c log2n (II)

1989
We give several bounds and characterizations for the lower almost sure classes of Uk,n, where k=kn denotes a nondecreasing integer sequence such that 1 ≤ kn = 0(log2n) as n → ∞, and where U1,n ≤… ≤Un,n denote the order statistics of the first n observations from a sequence of independent and uniformly distributed random variables on (0,1).
