Species spatial distribution analysis using nearest neighbor methods: aggregation and self-similarity [PDF]
Spatial aggregation and self-similarity are two important properties in species spatial distribution analysis and modeling. The aggregation parameter k in the negative binomial distribution model and fractal dimension are two widely used measures of ...

An adaptive multiclass nearest neighbor classifier [PDF]
We consider a problem of multiclass classification, where the training sample S_n={(Xi,Yi)}ni=1 is generated from the model ℙ(Y = m|X = x) = ηm(x), 1 ≤ m ≤ M, and η1(x), …, ηM(x) are unknown α-Holder continuous functions.

Navigating K-Nearest Neighbor Graphs to Solve Nearest Neighbor Searches [PDF]
Nearest neighbor queries can be satisfied, in principle, with a greedy algorithm under a proximity graph. Each object in the database is represented by a node, and proximal nodes in this graph will share an edge. To find the nearest neighbor the idea is quite simple, we start in a random node and get iteratively closer to the nearest neighbor following

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

A Continuous k-Nearest Neighbor Query Method for Moving Data in Obstructed Spaces
For the nearest neighbor query problem of continuous moving objects in spatio-temporal databases, the COpKNN (continuous obstructed possible k-nearest neighbor) query is proposed: in a two-dimensional space, given a moving query point q, a set of moving ...

Search K Nearest Neighbors on Air [PDF]
While the K-Nearest-Neighbor (KNN) problem is well studied in the traditional wired, disk-based client-server environment, it has not been tackled in a wireless broadcast environment. In this paper, the problem of organizing location dependent data and answering KNN queries on air are investigated.

The human gut microbiome across the life course
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.
