Ka-band scintillations: measurements and model predictions

Radar Reflectivity Measurements Of Ice at Ka Band
IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine, 2011Naval and helicopter radars may face operational scenarios where radar returns from the surface of ice become valuable. Partly due to that, we have measured the radar reflectivity of sea ice at Ka band for very small grazing angles. For an angle of 0.7°, an effective reflectivity of -26 dBsm ± 2 dB was observed with horizontal polarization.

A Ka-Band Electronically Tunable Ferroelectric Filter
IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters, 2009This letter presents a three-pole tunable Ka-band coplanar filter that includes six high-Q BST ferroelectric capacitors. It tunes from 29 GHz up to 34 GHz (17%) with low bias voltages ranging from 0 V to 30 V. The filter has fractional bandwidths of 9.5-12.2%.

A Ka-Band GaAs Monolithic Phase Shifter
IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 1983The design and performance of a GaAs monolithic 1800 one-bit switched line phase shifter test circuit for Ka-band operation is presented. A self-aligned gate (SAG) fabrication technique is also described that reduces resistive parasitic in the switching FET's.

Ka-Band Monolithic GaAs Balanced Mixers
Microwave and Millimeter-Wave Monolithic Circuits, 1983Monolithic integrated circuits have been developed on semi-insulating GaAs substrates for millimeter-wave balanced mixers. The GaAs chip is used as a suspended stripline in a cross-bar mixer circuit. A double sideband noise figure of 4.5 dB has been achieved with a monolithic GaAs balanced mixer filter chip over a 30- to 32-GHz frequency range.
