A miniaturised frontend for Ka-band radar applications

The frontend has an extreme high level of integration due to the use of modern multilayer technologies. Ka-Band Monolithic GaAs Balanced Mixers

Microwave and Millimeter-Wave Monolithic Circuits, 1983
Monolithic integrated circuits have been developed on semi-insulating GaAs substrates for millimeter-wave balanced mixers. The GaAs chip is used as a suspended stripline in a cross-bar mixer circuit. A double sideband noise figure of 4.5 dB has been achieved with a monolithic GaAs balanced mixer filter chip over a 30- to 32-GHz frequency range.

A broadband linearizer for Ka-band satellite communication

A compact, broadband linearizer has been developed at Space Systems Loral for Ka-band communication satellite (20 GHz down link). The pre-distortion type linearizer is capable of providing up to 10 dB gain compensation and 80 degree phase compensation, and is suitable for a broadband communication satellite.

AN EXPERIMENTAL Ka-BAND MIXER

Abstract : A K-band to X-band converter has been developed and placed in operation at a field site. The crystal is mounted in a modified K-band crystal mount. Several crystals were calibrated for field use. The measured parameters of bandwidth and conversion loss were 200 Mc and 12 to 15 db, respectively.
