Host egg kairomones essential for egg-larval parasitoid,Ascogaster reticulatus watanabe (Hymenoptera: Braconidae)

Journal of Chemical Ecology, 1988
An artificial egg with a Parafilm membrane was devised for the oviposition ofAscogaster reticulatus Watanabe (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), an egg-larval parasitoid of the smaller tea tortrix,Adoxophyes sp. (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae). Both external and internal kairomones were essential.

A kairomone forTrichogramma nubilale (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) isolation, identification, and synthesis

Journal of Chemical Ecology, 1990
A kairomone that effects host-seeking behavior inTrichogramma nubilale Ertle and Davis, an egg parasitoid of the European corn borer,Ostrinia nubilalis (Hübner), was isolated from moth scales of the European corn borer. The kairomone was identified as a mixture of 11,15-, 13,17-, and 15,19-dimethylnonatriacontanes.

Fish-kairomone induced morphological changes in Daphnia lumholtzi (SARS)

Archiv für Hydrobiologie, 1994
Daphnia lumholtzi is known to develop long helmets. In this study I show that helmet growth can be induced by chemical substances released by fish. Additionally size at first reproduction is lower in the presence of fish chemicals. This is the first report of the induction of cyclomorphosis in Daphnia by fish chemicals. Since D.

Honeydew as a contact kairomone for aphid parasitoids

Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, 1990
AbstractAphidius rhopalosiphi De Stefani‐Perez, four other primary parasitoids and three hyperparasitoids of cereal aphids responded to cereal aphid honeydew on filter paper discs by greatly increasing visit times. Both female and male parasitoids responded, females generally more strongly. A.

Methods for the Study of Pheromones and Kairomones

1986
In 1964, Cuthbert and Reid published the first evidence of a sex pheromone of the genus Diabrotica. This study dealt with the female-produced attractant of D. balteata LeConte. Although the sex pheromone for D. balteata has yet to be identified, specific sex attractants are now known for a number of Diabrotica species (Guss et al., 1982, 1983a, b, 1984)
