Composition law of $\kappa$-entropy for statistically independent systems

open access: yes, 2017
The intriguing and still open question concerning the composition law of $\kappa$-entropy $S_{\kappa}(f)=\frac{1}{2\kappa}\sum_i (f_i^{1-\kappa}-f_i^{1+\kappa})$ with ...

Validating physician-certified verbal autopsy and probabilistic modeling (InterVA) approaches to verbal autopsy interpretation using hospital causes of adult deaths

open access: yesPopulation Health Metrics, 2011
Background The most common method for determining cause of death is certification by physicians based either on available medical records, or where such data are not available, through verbal autopsy (VA).

Covariables Ambientales que Definen los Principales Grupos de Suelo en México

open access: yesTerra Latinoamericana, 2023
La variabilidad de los suelos depende de la interacción de covariables ambientales que intervienen en su formación. En México, se registran 25 grupos de suelo de los 32 que incluye la Base Referencial Mundial (BRM).

Conflict free colorings of (strongly) almost disjoint set-systems

open access: yes, 2010
A set-system $X$ is a $(\lambda, \kappa,\mu)$-system iff $|X|=\lambda$, $|x|=\kappa$ for each $x\in X$, and $X$ is $\mu$-almost disjoint. We write $[\lambda, \kappa, \mu] -> \rho$ iff every $(\lambda, \kappa,\mu)$-system has a "conflict free coloring ...

KAPPA-MINKOWSKI SPACETIME, KAPPA-POINCARÉ HOPF ALGEBRA AND REALIZATIONS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Geometric Methods in Modern Physics, 2012
The κ-Minkowski spacetime and Lorentz algebra are unified in unique Lie algebra. Introducing commutative momenta, a family of κ-deformed Heisenberg algebras and κ-deformed Poincaré algebras are defined. They are determined by the matrix depending on momenta. Realizations and star product are defined and analyzed in general.

Kappa-Slender Modules [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Mathematics, 2020
Abstract For an arbitrary infinite cardinal κ, we define classes of κ-cslender and κ-tslender modules as well as related classes of κ-hmodules and initiate a study of these classes.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Striatum hyperactivity triggers relapse to morphine and methamphetamine (polydrug) dependence in mice

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences, 2020
Introduction: κ-opioid receptor (KOPr) system has been linked to relapse to many substances, especially opioids. Positive responses were recently reported in morphine and methamphetamine (polydrug)-dependent mice treated with buprenorphine and naltrexone,

A new one parameter deformation of the exponential function

open access: yes, 2001
Recently, in the ref. Physica A \bfm{296} 405 (2001), a new one parameter deformation for the exponential function $\exp_{_{\{{\scriptstyle \kappa}\}}}(x)= (\sqrt{1+\kappa^2x^2}+\kappa x)^{1/\kappa}; \exp_{_{\{{\scriptstyle 0}\}}}(x)=\exp (x)$, which ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...
