Oxymercuration-demercuration kappa number:
Nordic Pulp & Paper Research Journal, 2002In the kappa number determination, it has been found that non-lignin structures contribute to the consumption of permanganate, and thus make it difficult to estimate the lignin content in the pulp.

Dependence of Weighted Kappa Coefficients on the Number of Categories
Epidemiology, 1996Weighted kappa coefficients are commonly used to quantify inter- or intra-rater reliability or test-retest reliability of ordinal ratings in clinical and epidemiologic applications. In this paper, we assess the dependence of weighted kappa coefficients on the number of categories and the type of weighting scheme, which vary between applications.

On the structural significance of the kappa number measurement
Nordic Pulp & Paper Research Journal, 1998The structural significance of a kappa number has been studied by quantifying the permanganate consumption of various isolated pine, birch and poplar lignins, of lignin model compounds and of carbo ...

Kinetics and mechanism of kappa number determination
Nordic Pulp & Paper Research Journal, 1998The kinetics and mechanism involved in the kappa number determination have been studied using a spectrophotometric method to monitor the oxidation of pine kraft pulp as well as of model compounds f ...

PREDICTION AND CONTROL OF BLOW-LINE KAPPA NUMBER
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2005Abstract Two industrial continuous cooking processes producing both softwood and hardwood pulp were studied. Real time kappa number profiles of conventional and Downflow Lo-Solids cooking were modelled. Gustafson's kappa number model with optimised parameters was used. Blow-line kappa numbers were successfully predicted before cooking zone. New kappa

Target Kappa Number for AS/AQ Pulping of Wheat Straw
Advanced Materials Research, 2011Alkaline sulfite/anthraquinone (AS/AQ) pulping of wheat straw under different conditions was conducted in this study. A transition point of kappa number at approximately 6.5 was observed based on all experimental results. This transition point can be regarded as the phase transfer point in AS/AQ pulping from bulk to residual delignification.

Oxygen Delignification of Bamboo Kraft Pulp with High Kappa Number
Advanced Materials Research, 2011Bamboo kraft pulp with Kappa number of 25.6 was sampled, and oxygen delignification was applied to bleach these bamboo pulp samples. By investigating yield, Kappa number, viscosity, brightness of pulp, and delignification selectivity, it has been proven that caustic soda dosage and reaction temperature were major factors for oxygen delignification. The

Enhancing Controllability of Kappa Number Using Gray-Box Modeling
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2004Abstract In industrial digester control systems Kappa number models are often used. There are publications using both physical and experimental methods. In this study Kappa number is predicted in the top of the digester using both modelling techniques.

The Kappa Coefficient of Agreement for Multiple Observers When the Number of Subjects is Small
Biometrics, 1986Published results on the use of the kappa coefficient of agreement have traditionally been concerned with situations where a large number of subjects is classified by a small group of raters. The coefficient is then used to assess the degree of agreement among the raters through hypothesis testing or confidence intervals.
