High‐Resolution Diffusion Kurtosis Imaging of Hippocampus Subfields Across the Healthy Lifespan

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 8, August 2026.
Developmental and aging changes were examined in the hippocampus using 1 mm isotropic diffusion kurtosis imaging in 363 participants aged 5–90 years. HippUnfold enabled automated subfield segmentation and unfolded hippocampal maps. Whole‐hippocampus showed distinct lifespan trajectories: volume, quadratic; MD, negative Gamma Variate; FA, positive Gamma

Lectotypifications and taxonomic changes in the holoparasitic Orobanchaceae

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 2026, Issue 8, August 2026.
Based on further extensive studies of specimens in various herbaria, lectotypes are designated for many taxa of holoparasitic Orobanchaceae. In particular, 47 names in the genera Boschniakia (incl. Xylanche), Cistanche, Orobanche, Phelipanche and Phelypaea are lectotypified.

Do Injury, Depression, and PTSD Mediate the Relationships Between Latent Profiles of Cumulative Lifetime Violence and Chronic Pain Disability in Men?

open access: yesResearch in Nursing &Health, Volume 49, Issue 4, Page 353-364, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Knowledge of association between violence and chronic pain in men is limited by neglect of violence experiences as perpetrator, disregard of heterogeneity in cumulative lifetime violence severity (CLVS), weak understanding of mediation pathways, and inattention to social determinants of health (SDOH).

Evolutionarily conserved hydrophobicity and sterics in TM3/TM4 balance Orai1 pore opening

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract The calcium (Ca2+) channel Orai1—the pore‐forming subunit of the Ca2+ release‐activated Ca2+ channel—is opened by its physiological activator, the endoplasmic reticulum (ER)‐resident Ca2+ sensor stromal interaction molecule 1 (STIM1) upon ER Ca2+ store‐depletion.
