"Artsakh -Karabagh. The Khachkars"

The article begins by defining the object of the study: the stone plaque called khachkar (from Armenian khach = cross, and k'ar = stone), which bears the sculpted image of the cross-tree of life. Since its creation in the 9th century, this form specific to medieval Armenia is attested in Artsakh where nearly two thousand examples can be found.
