Assessing multifunctional mountain landscape in an Eastern European framework
The research introduces the Biocultural Resilience Index (BRI), a novel tool for assessing multifunctional landscape sustainability. By integrating biological, cultural, and socio‐economic indicators, the BRI identifies vulnerable areas and informs strategies for sustainable management.

ABSTRACT Placing appropriate conservation practices in critical source areas of pollutants can benefit stream health in karst environments susceptible to agricultural pollution. Watershed models, such as the Soil and Water Assessment Tool+ (SWAT+), can optimize both practice selection and placement across the landscape, but to our knowledge no studies ...

Study on Overlying Strata Movement and Surface Subsidence of Coal Workfaces with Karst Aquifer Water
The overlying strata layers of coal workfaces with karst aquifer water normally causes serious safety problems due to the precipitation, drainage and water inrush, such as a wide range and long term of surface subsidence.

Applying Karst Hydrology Concepts to Anthropogenic Subsurface Systems and Mine Water Management
Due to the pronounced similarities between natural karst systems and mine workings, we consider mine workings as man‐made karst and present the concept of ‘anthropogenic karst’. ABSTRACT Mine water management is a permanent challenge in post‐mining areas where drainage adits play a crucial role for the regulation of water levels within partially ...

Stable isotopes in water act as natural tracers of precipitation temperature. In mountainous environments, the oxygen isotopic signature measured in stream water reflects air temperature during precipitation events. Oxygen‐isotope‐derived temperatures are closely linked to recharge processes, particularly in peatlands, as well as in groundwater systems.

Neonicotinoid and s‐triazine pesticide transport dynamics in a small karst agricultural watershed
Abstract The potential ecological and human health risks posed by agricultural pesticides necessitate a comprehensive understanding of pesticide transport dynamics to guide effective management. Riparian buffers are often implemented to mitigate nutrients and sediment transported in surface runoff.

Groundwater Temperature Processes and Patterns: Implications for Stream Thermal Regimes
Shallow groundwater temperatures are controlled by ground surface temperatures and are influenced by climate change and land cover changes. Deeper groundwater temperature is constant year‐round, making it cooler (warmer) in the summer (winter) than surface water, and exhibits a lagged response to surface warming.
