Interconnection of karst systems and flow piracy through karst collapse in layered carbonate rocks

Environmental Earth Sciences, 2009
A new mode of interconnecting karst systems separated by impermeable bed due to karst collapse was discovered in the study of dam site in Guizhou, South China. Karst flow may be diverted from conduits in one layer to another, thus forming a connected karst system.

Prikaz knjige "Atlas of Karst Collapses"

Hrvatske Vode, 2022

Analysis of the risk of karst collapse in Lapão, Bahia, Brazil

Exploration Geophysics, 2012
On October 2008, the large extent of dissolution of limestone in the Irece Basin resulted in the occurrence of minor ground shakes and the enhancement of fractures along the surface of the ground and on the walls of buildings in the urban and periurban area of the city of Lapao.

Mechanical behavior of groundwater seepage in karst collapse pillars

Engineering Geology, 2013
Abstract Groundwater inrush has an impartible relationship with geological structures such as karst collapse pillars (KCPs), which are widely distributed in North China. In order to study the mechanism of groundwater inrush from coal seam floor, the variable mass dynamics and nonlinear dynamics were introduced.

Distribution and Forming Mechanism of Karst Collapses in Tangshan Stadium

Rock Mechanics and Its Applications in Civil, Mining, and Petroleum Engineering, 2014
Tangshan stadium is located in downtown Tangshan, Hebei province, China. In this area, there are many karstic fissure zones and several karst collapses have happened, causing serious damages to the buildings on top of them. In this paper, the engineering geological and hydrogeological data was acquired through comprehensive investigation methods, and ...

Analysis on the Karst Foundation Collapse Caused by Groundwater Flow

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
By the traditional calculation method of evaluating the stability of the karst foundation, the results often exist certain differences from actual engineering situation. Based on the hydrodynamics theories and the engineering case, a model of karst groundwater flow is established, the groundwater hydrodynamic force and the ability of carrying particles
