Stress sensitive characteristics of fault-karst reservoir

open access: yesYouqicang pingjia yu kaifa, 2023
The connected media of fault-karst reservoir are fractures, caves and pores, the decrease of pressure will lead to the decrease of permeability and conductivity, which will have an irreversible impact on oil well production. According to the stress-sensitive characteristics of fault-karst reservoir, 72 groups of physical simulation experiments on ...

Uncertainty Analysis of Internal Hydrological Processes in Two Agricultural Catchments in Ireland via Stochastic Calibration of SWAT+

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 4, April 2026.
Extension of uncertainty analysis beyond outlet streamflow to hydrological fluxes via different pathways contributes to more robust characterisation and understanding of internal surface and subsurface hydrological processes in river catchments and process uncertainty across different behavioural parameter sets that achieve satisfactory performance for

Inclusion Characteristics of the Fracture-Cave Calcite of Ordovician Yingshan Formation and Its Indication to the Formation of Paleokarst Reservoir in the Northern Slope of Tarim Basin Center Area, China

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
A karst fracture-cavity was developed in the Ordovician Yingshan Formation in the northern slope of the Tarim Basin center area (Tazhong area); however, the area experienced multistage karst and diagenesis in the later period, and the reservoir was ...

Escalating Extreme River Discharge Events Driven by Precipitation Changes in the Yangtze River Basin

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Extreme river discharge events (ERDEs) directly induce catastrophic floods, posing severe threats to human life and infrastructure. Understanding the precipitation patterns that precede ERDEs is critical for identifying early flood warnings. This study investigated the spatiotemporal characteristics of 3‐hourly ERDEs across the Yangtze River ...

3D geological modeling of mine karst geothermal reservoir and geothermal resources evaluation

open access: yesMeitan xuebao
The traditional geothermal reservoir volume method is suitable for the evaluation of geothermal resources in large-scale regions, but there is a significant error when it is used for the evaluation of mine geothermal resources.

REVIVING ABANDONED RESERVOIRS WITH HIGH-PRESSURE AIR INJECTION: APPLICATION IN A FRACTURED AND KARSTED DOLOMITE RESERVOIR [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The field operator, Goldrus Producing Company, has been unable to secure funding needed to continue the field demonstration phase of the project. Accordingly, we have temporarily halted all project activities until necessary funding is obtained. Goldrus is confident that funds can be acquired by third quarter 2005 at which time it will be necessary to ...

Reconstructing human‐induced geomorphic changes through historical maps and multitemporal remote sensing data in the Cancano–San Giacomo di Fraele reservoirs (Central Alps, Italy)

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 3, March 2026.
Reconstructing ~200 years of landscape change at the Cancano–San Giacomo hydroelectric system (Central Alps), we integrate historical cartography, archival photographs, multitemporal aerial/satellite imagery and field validation to map pre‐ and post‐impoundment landforms.

Reconstructing large‐scale karst paleogeomorphology at the top of the Ordovician in the Ordos Basin, China: Control on natural gas accumulation and paleogeographic implications

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering, 2019
Karstification in carbonate successions has an important influence on hydrocarbon accumulation. Taking the Ordos Basin, currently the largest petroliferous basin in China, as an example, this study examines the large‐scale, long‐term (~120 Myr ...

Applying Karst Hydrology Concepts to Anthropogenic Subsurface Systems and Mine Water Management

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 3, March 2026.
Due to the pronounced similarities between natural karst systems and mine workings, we consider mine workings as man‐made karst and present the concept of ‘anthropogenic karst’. ABSTRACT Mine water management is a permanent challenge in post‐mining areas where drainage adits play a crucial role for the regulation of water levels within partially ...

Groundwater Temperature Processes and Patterns: Implications for Stream Thermal Regimes

open access: yesWIREs Water, Volume 13, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Shallow groundwater temperatures are controlled by ground surface temperatures and are influenced by climate change and land cover changes. Deeper groundwater temperature is constant year‐round, making it cooler (warmer) in the summer (winter) than surface water, and exhibits a lagged response to surface warming.
