Meliaceae genomes provide insights into wood development and limonoids biosynthesis

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 21, Issue 3, Page 574-590, March 2023., 2023
The chromosome‐level genome of Azadirachta indica and Melia azedarach were provided. Meliaceae should be classified into two subfamilies: Cedreloideae and Melioideae. Cellulose/hemicellulose biosynthesis‐related genes expanded notably in woody Toona sinensis. Expanded special oxidosqualene cyclase catalogues help diversify Sapindales skeletons.

Karyology of three evolutionarily hexaploid southern African species of yellowfish, Labeobarbus Rüppel, 1836 (Cyprinidae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The karyotypes of three species of yellowfish, namely Labeobarbus marequensis (A. Smith, 1841), L. capensis (A. Smith, 1841) and L. polylepis (Boulenger, 1907), were examined by Giemsa staining using an approach improved for the description of high ...

Molecular insights on the conflicting generic boundaries in the Carduncellus‐Carthamus complex (Compositae)

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 71, Issue 6, Page 1268-1286, December 2022., 2022
Abstract The Carthamus‐Carduncellus complex is formed by approximately 50 taxa that are widely distributed throughout the Mediterranean basin and western Asia. The generic delineation of this complex has always been controversial. Currently, there are three widely diverging taxonomical proposals, suggesting that the complex is formed by (1) a single ...

Long‐read‐based draft genome sequence of Indian black gram IPU‐94‐1 ‘Uttara’: Insights into disease resistance and seed storage protein genes

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 15, Issue 3, September 2022., 2022
Abstract Black gram [Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper var. mungo] is a warm‐season legume highly prized for its protein content along with significant folate and iron proportions. To expedite the genetic enhancement of black gram, a high‐quality draft genome from the center of origin of the crop is indispensable.
