AN EFFACED HORSESHOE CRAB (ARTHROPODA: CHELICERATA: XIPHOSURA) FROM THE UPPER CARBONIFEROUS OF THE CARNIC ALPS (FRIULI, NE ITALY)

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 2019
A carapace of a new horseshoe crab (Arthropoda: Chelicerata: Xiphosura) is described from the Upper Carboniferous (Kasimovian) Meledis Formation of the Carnic Alps, Friuli, Italy. It is named as Stilpnocephalus pontebbanus n. gen. & n.

The oldest plant-insect interaction in Croatia: Carboniferous evidence

open access: yesGeologia Croatica, 2012
The feeding trace Phagophytichnus ekowskii VAN AMEROM, 1966 is recorded on Taeniopteris carnotii ZEILLER, 1888, a cycadopsid leaf, from the Lika mudstone (Upper Kasimovian-Gzhelian) of Croatia.

Significant hiatuses in the terrestrial Late Variscan Central and Western Bohemian basins (Late Pennsylvanian–Early Cisuralian) and their possible tectonic and climatic links

open access: yesGeologica Carpathica, 2017
Significant changes in the stratigraphy of the Central and Western Bohemian Upper Palaeozoic basins occur during or shortly after hiatuses. The different extent and changes in the depocentres of the Radnice and Nýřany members (Moscovian) in the Plzeň ...

Palaeobiogeography of the Late Carboniferous brachiopoda from Velebit Mt. (Croatia)

open access: yesGeologia Croatica, 2016
An abundant and diverse Late Carboniferous brachiopod fauna from Velebit Mt. (Croatia) comprises 63 brachiopod taxa dominated by Productida and Spiriferida. The Spiriferinida, Athyridida, Orthotethida and Rhynchonellata are less common, while the Orthida,

Late Pennsylvanian vegetation dynamics of the Donets Basin, Ukraine

open access: yesGeo&Bio
The dynamics of the Late Pennsylvanian vegetation cover of the Donets Basin is represented by a succession of formations of new plant communities (phytocoenogenesis) of a wetland forest and woodland biome and a seasonally dry woodland biome because of ...

The early diversification of ray-finned fishes (Actinopterygii): hypotheses, challenges and future prospects. [PDF]

open access: yesBiol Rev Camb Philos Soc, 2023
ABSTRACT Actinopterygii makes up half of living vertebrate diversity, and study of fossil members during their Palaeozoic rise to dominance has a long history of descriptive work. Although research interest into Palaeozoic actinopterygians has increased in recent years, broader patterns of diversity and diversity dynamics remain critically understudied.

Correlation of the Myachkovian and Kasimovian in the U.S.S.R. with the west European subdivision

open access: yes, 1973
The Myachkovian and Kasimovian chronostratigraphic units in the U.S.S.R. are correlated with similar units as used in western Europe. This correlation is here established through northwestern Spain, where fusulinid faunas and plant fossils enable a comparison with the U.S.S.R. and western Europe.

Fusulinids from uppermost Myachkovian and Kasimovian strata of northwestern Spain

open access: yes, 1971
The uppermost marine fusulinid-bearing strata in northwestern Spain are found in the area of the upper Río Pisuerga in northern Palencia and in the area of the lower Río Cares in Oviedo (Asturia). The youngest fusulinid faunas in the Pisuerga area belong to the Protriticites Zone; they indicate a Lower Kasimovian age. In the area of the lower Río Cares
