Formation conditions of the Lover Kasimovian (Upper Carboniferous) organic buildups on the Ilych River (Northern Urals)

open access: yesGeology of reefs, 2020
Lower Kasimovian organic buildups in the Moleben-Iz section on the Ilych River, Northern Urals, were studied. Two levels of buildups development have been established, that are composing by algal and palaeoaplysinid boundstones and biocementstones. They are probably a part of long (up to 10 km) and complexly constructed biostromes.

Association of late Carboniferous wildfire records with interglacial climate change in North China Platform

open access: yesMeitan xuebao
Currently, global warming driven by anthropogenic factors such as the massive emission of greenhouse gases is gradually transitioning the Earth’s surface climate from a Quaternary glacial period to an interglacial or greenhouse climate, accompanied by ...

LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating of Carboniferous ash layers in the Cantabrian Zone (N Spain): stratigraphic implications

open access: yes, 2020
Seven centimetre-thick volcanic ash-fall layers interbedded within the thick Carboniferous successions of the Cantabrian Zone in northern Spain were dated by U–Pb zircon laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry across an interval ...

Relationship between continental chemical weathering trends in the North China Basin and the high-latitude glacial cycles from the Late Carboniferous to the Early Permian

open access: yesMeitian dizhi yu kantan
Objective and Methods The Late Paleozoic Ice Age (LPIA; ca. 360‒254 Ma), the only period recording the transition from icehouse to greenhouse conditions throughout the geological history, can provide a deep-time perspective for glacier-environment ...

Bivalves and brachiopods in the Carboniferous - Early Permian of Argentine Precordillera: Diversification and faunal turnover in Southwestern Gondwana

open access: yesGeologica Acta, 2011
Diversification patterns and faunistic turnovers of bivalves and brachiopods through the Carboniferous - Early Permian interval in the central western Argentinian basins are analyzed and compared with the global events proposed in former studies.

Late Visean to Gzhelian foraminiferal assemblages from the Paleo-Tethyan seamount-type carbonates in the Changning-Menglian Belt, westYunnan, southwest China

open access: yes, 2012
The Changning-Menglian Belt of West Yunnan, Southwest China is known as a closed remnant of the Paleo-Tethys. Carboniferous to Permian carbonates of mid-oceanic seamount origin from the central part of this belt is studied at the Yutangzhai Section for

Stratigraphic distribution of macerals and biomarkers in the Donets Basin: Implications for paleoecology, paleoclimatology and eustacy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
More than one hundred and thirty coal seams and coaly layers occur in the Donets Basin (Donbas). Twenty-eight (52 samples) of them, ranging in age from Serpukhovian (Late Mississipian) to Gzhelian (Late Pennsylvanian), 33 clastics and three limestones ...

The chemical and mineral composition of volcanic ash in the Upper Carboniferous deposits of the Usolka section (South Ural, Russia)

open access: yes, 2020
© 2020 IOP Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved. Volcanic ash from the Usolka section, which is proposed as an international standard for global correlation of the lower boundaries of the Kasimovian and Gzhelian Stages, is considered.
