Japanese Multi‐Institution Study of Success Rates of Wire‐Guided Biliary Cannulation During Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography in Relation to Guidewire tip Length (JMIT Study) (With Video)

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Wire‐guided cannulation (WGC) reportedly increases the successful biliary cannulation rate and reduces the risk of post‐endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography pancreatitis. Currently, various types of guidewires are available.

Visibility Evaluation of Fundic Gland Polyp Associated With Proton Pump Inhibitor in Texture and Color Enhancement Imaging

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives A ‘gray color sign’ (GCS) is a new endoscopic feature of fundic gland polyp associated with proton pump inhibitor (PPI‐FGP). Here, we compare the ability of texture and color enhancement imaging (TXI) to white light imaging (WLI) with regard to the detection of GCS. Methods In this prospective study, 19 consecutive patients with PPI‐

A Novel Bioabsorbable Covered Stent for Advancing Bile Duct Injury Management: A Preclinical Study in a Porcine Model (With Video)

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Self‐expandable metallic and plastic stents have been used for biliary tract injuries, but they are not entirely adequate as treatments. This study investigated the potential of our novel self‐expandable bioabsorbable covered stent (SEBCS) to treat bile duct injuries. We developed a novel SEBCS by covering a self‐expandable bioabsorbable stent

Usefulness of a One‐step Semi‐deployment Flushing and Stenting Technique in Endoscopic Transpapillary Gallbladder Drainage for Acute Cholecystitis (With Video)

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Endoscopic transpapillary gallbladder stenting (EGBS) has demonstrated high technical and clinical success rates in endoscopic transpapillary gallbladder drainage (ETGBD) for acute cholecystitis. The effectiveness of a 5‐Fr endoscopic naso‐gallbladder drainage (ENGBD) tube for flushing and the internal fistula technique after tube ...

Trends in Endoscopist Reporting Rates of Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Diseases in Japan Evaluated by the Japan Endoscopy Database Project

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
We analyzed 9,940,870 endoscopic procedures from the Japanese Endoscopy Database (2015–2023), identifying 9,669 eosinophilic gastrointestinal disease (EGID) cases. The prevalence of eosinophilic esophagitis, gastritis, and duodenitis increased significantly (p < 0.001), while enteritis and colitis remained unchanged (p = 0.136). EoE rose from 36 cases (

A Clinical Scoring Model to Predict Post‐Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography Pancreatitis in Biliary Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography for Patients With Intact Papilla: A Large Multicenter Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives The risk of post‐endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) pancreatitis (PEP) needs to be predicted in order to take adequate preventive measures in individual cases. The aim of this study was to develop a clinical prediction rule for PEP in biliary ERCP for patients with intact papilla.
