Anchoring Morphological Representations Unlocks Latent Proprioception in Soft Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
The authors present ProSoRo, a proprioceptive soft robot that anchors morphological states to a single internal reference frame and employs a multimodal variational autoencoder for crossmodal inference, revealing latent proprioception that enables accurate force and shape estimation, interpretable morphing primitives, robust sim‐to‐real transfer, and ...

Climatic determinants of plant phenology in vernal pool habitats

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise The floral phenology of vernal pool plants is little understood despite being a crucial developmental stage for producing seeds and determining population growth rates. Vernal pools are ephemerally aquatic habitats harboring species adapted to predictable seasonal fluctuations between desiccated and inundated conditions; thus, vernal ...

Zwitterionic Heavier Pnictinidenes in Redox Catalysis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Zwitterionic pnictinidenes: A new class of zwitterionic heavier pnictogen species stabilized by bis(N‐heterocyclic carbene)borate ligands is reported, enabling the isolation of Sb and Bi in multiple oxidation states. These thoroughly characterized systems exhibit cationic character and engage in redox catalysis, facilitating catalytic ...

The efficacy and usability of motivational interviewing just‐in‐time trainings for youth mentors

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Using youth mentors to deliver evidence‐based psychosocial services has been proposed to increase the reach of treatments, in part given the affordability and ubiquity of mentors in youth settings. Further, tests of mentor‐delivered motivational interviewing (MI) have shown increases in youth mentees' academic performance and wellbeing.
