Modeling Kelvin wake imaging mechanism of visible spectral remote sensing

Applied Ocean Research, 2021
Abstract Kelvin wake is an important detection target of ocean visible spectral remote sensing. In the case of slow ship speed and low atmospheric transmissivity, the wake signal is weak and the SNR (Signal-Noise Ratio) is low. Therefore, the image obtained by the visible spectral remote sensing imaging system is often “unclear”.

Passive Millimeter-Wave Radiation Characteristic Analysis of Kelvin Wake

2020 International Conference on Microwave and Millimeter Wave Technology (ICMMT), 2020
Passive millimeter-wave (PMMW) radiation of Kelvin wake is helpful for ship detection. A local coordinate system is established at each small facet to calculate the brightness temperature of Kelvin Wake. The influence of ship speed and draft on brightness temperature of Kelvin wake is simulated.

Computational Efficient Simulation of Kelvin Wake for Unmanned Surface Vehicles

2021 IEEE International Conference on Real-time Computing and Robotics (RCAR), 2021
The ship wake affects the motion of Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) essentially. While USV simulators have been proposed recently, they do not support the ship wake. In this paper, a computational efficient simulation of ship wake is proposed. The simulation is based on influence-point model.

Multi-directional Infrared Imaging Characterization of Ship Kelvin Wake

2012 International Conference on Industrial Control and Electronics Engineering, 2012
A wake will appear behind the ship with long continuous time when the ship sail in the sea. The apparent wake can be detected with infrared imaging device. By analyzing infrared imaging characterization of the wake, many parameters of the ship can be gained in principle, such as ship's dimensions, course and speed.

Electromagnetic scattering model of the Kelvin wake and turbulent wake by a moving ship

Waves in Random and Complex Media, 2011
Taking the attenuation character of the Kelvin wake and the limitation of the traditional two-scale method into account, the practical electromagnetic (EM) scattering model of the Kelvin wake is obtained by using a facet-based model; and for a turbulent ship wake, it is produced by dealing with the wave energy loss rate due to turbulence with the width
