THE FALSE POSITIVE RATE OF KEPLER AND THE OCCURRENCE OF PLANETS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The Kepler mission is uniquely suited to study the frequencies of extrasolar planets. This goal requires knowledge of the incidence of false positives such as eclipsing binaries in the background of the targets, or physically bound to them, which can ...

Metabolite‐based resistance in wheat varieties to aphid virus vectors: progress and future opportunities

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Sitobion avenae and Rhopalosiphum padi are major pests on wheat. Natural product‐based aphid resistance holds promise for the sustainable control of these pests. The current literature is discussed, highlighting knowledge gaps and challenges that need addressing. Abstract Cereal aphids, Sitobion avenae and Rhopalosiphum padi, cause severe yield loss in

Comparison of Surface Features of Ceramic and Ti‐Based Dental Implants

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), EarlyView.
The roughness values of ceramic implants are slightly higher than of the titanium machined sample and significantly lower than of sandblasted implants. The observed structures, along with the roughness values, could enhance the osseointegration of the 3D printed ceramic implants.

The Kepler Light Curves of AGN: A Detailed Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We present a comprehensive analysis of 21 light curves of Type 1 active galactic nuclei (AGN) from the Kepler spacecraft. First, we describe the necessity and development of a customized pipeline for treating Kepler data of stochastically variable ...

Basic Properties of Tungsten Oxide Anodic Memristors

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), EarlyView.
Anodically grown WO3 memristors are studied. Strong self‐rectification is detected during I–U sweeps. Poole–Frenkel and Schottky conduction mechanisms are responsible for the high‐ and low‐resistive states, respectively. This characterizes forming‐free anodic memristors, without conductive filament formation. Memristive endurance testing reveals stable

Giant Outer Transiting Exoplanet Mass (GOT ‘EM) Survey. IV. Long-term Doppler Spectroscopy for 11 Stars Thought to Host Cool Giant Exoplanets

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
Discovering and characterizing exoplanets at the outer edge of the transit method’s sensitivity has proven challenging owing to geometric biases and the practical difficulties associated with acquiring long observational baselines.

Corrections of Electron–Phonon Coupling for Second‐Order Structural Phase Transitions

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), EarlyView.
The left image illustrates a weak electron–phonon coupling, while the right image depicts a strong electron–phonon coupling. The weak electron–phonon coupling interaction between the lattice and electrons is susceptible to destabilization by an increase in temperature.

Deterministic Fabrication of GaAs‐Quantum‐Dot Micropillar Single‐Photon Sources

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, EarlyView.
Deterministic integration of droplet‐etched GaAs quantum dots into micropillar cavities is demonstrated with 100% positioning yield. The devices emit high‐purity single photons, and p‐shell excitation enables the generation of indistinguishable photons.
