Periodic Orbits of the Planar Anisotropic Kepler Problem

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos in Applied Sciences and Engineering, 2017
In this paper, we prove that at every energy level the anisotropic Kepler problem with small anisotropy has two periodic orbits which bifurcate from elliptic orbits of the Kepler problem with high eccentricity.

Periodic solutions to a forced Kepler problem in the plane [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 2019
Given a smooth function U ( t , x ) U(t,x) , T T -periodic in the first variable and satisfying U ( t , x ...

NASA DART mission: A preliminary mathematical dynamical model and its nonlinear circuit emulation

open access: yesNonlinear Engineering, 2023
On September 22, 2022, a spacecraft, designed by the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) team, successfully attempted to deflect the orbit of the asteroid Dimorphos, which together with Didymos, constitutes a binary system of near-Earth asteroids ...

Eighth Order Two-Step Methods Trained to Perform Better on Keplerian-Type Orbits

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
The family of Numerov-type methods that effectively uses seven stages per step is considered. All the coefficients of the methods belonging to this family can be expressed analytically with respect to four free parameters.

Tangent bundle geometry from dynamics: Application to the Kepler problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we consider a manifold with a dynamical vector field and enquire about the possible tangent bundle structures which would turn the starting vector field into a second-order one.

Periodic Orbits of Quantised Restricted Three-Body Problem

open access: yesUniverse, 2023
In this paper, perturbed third-body motion is considered under quantum corrections to analyse the existence of periodic orbits. These orbits are studied through two approaches to identify the first (second) periodic-orbit types.

On Berkeley’s solution to the Barrovian case

open access: yesPrincipia: An International Journal of Epistemology, 2020
At the beginning of the 18th century, Berkeley believed an anomaly pointed out by Isaac Barrow could be regarded as important evidence against the optical theories that had been established and standardized thanks to the works of Kepler and Newton.

Periodic orbits of the planar anisotropic generalized Kepler problem

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics and Physics, 2019
Many generalizations of the Kepler problem with homogeneous potential of degree −1/2 have been considered. Here, we deal with the generalized anisotropic Kepler problem with homogeneous potential of degree −1.

Integrable Systems: In the Footprints of the Greats

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
In his 1842 lectures on dynamics C.G. Jacobi summarized difficulties with differential equations by saying that the main problem in the integration of differential equations appears in the choice of right variables.

Quasi-Bi-Hamiltonian structures of the 2-dimensional Kepler problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The existence of quasi-bi-Hamiltonian structures for the Kepler problem is studied. We first relate the superintegrability of the system with the existence of two complex functions endowed with very interesting Poisson bracket properties and then we ...
