Preliminary Study on Keratinase from Two Indonesian Isolates
Keratinases (E.C.3.4.99.11) constitute a group of enzymes capable of disrupting the highly stable keratin structure consisting of disulphide, hydrogen, and hydrophobic bonds in the form of α-helices and β-sheets B. licheniformis MB-2 and Bacillus sp. MTS

An optimised keratin azure assay of keratinase activity
Keratin, in the form of coarse sheep wool, has been identified as an undervalued natural resource, which with the appropriate tools (e.g. a keratinase biocatalyst) can be repurposed for various textile and industrial biotechnology applications. For these

Microbial Keratinases: Then and Now
Keratinase are special proteases which have the ability to degrade recalcitrant, proteinase K resistant proteins. They are elaborated by compendium of microorganisms that include bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi. The keratinase research can be divided into three phases.

Hydrolysis of feather keratin by immobilized keratinase [PDF]
Keratinase isolated from Bacillus licheniformis PWD-1 was immobilized on controlled-pore glass beads. The immobilized keratinase demonstrated proteolytic activities against both insoluble feather keratin and soluble casein. It also displayed a higher level of heat stability and an increased tolerance toward acidic pHs compared with the free keratinase.
